Pho 79 - Virginia Beach

The pho was just okay—nothing outstanding. The banh mi sandwich was disappointing; it tasted like they used mayonnaise instead of pâté, there weren't enough pickled vegetables, and the BBQ pork was just average. The restaurant has the feel of a chain establishment. We won't be returning and will steer clear of similar chain Vietnamese restaurants. Food rating: 2/5.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, the server was wonderful, and I really loved the atmosphere and decor. However, I did find the overhead lights to be a bit too low; they were bright and somewhat distracting. Also, the lock on the handicapped bathroom door in the women's restroom was broken. Other than that, it was an awesome visit! Food: 5/5

The portion size was great, and the staff were very friendly. This is one of our two favorite pho spots in town. Food: 5/5

Normally Vietnamese cuisine is one of my favorites but this was a major disappointment. We got seated pretty quick the place is very large fusion compared to most Vietnamese places. Our order got screwed up twice then my chicken over broken rice came out very cold so wasn't pleasant to be eating cold grilled chicken. Seemed like it was left overs as it was very dry as well too. Visiting from out of state this will definitely be a place to cross off for my future visits to VA beach. The authenticity in the food is just not there.....or they cater to the American taste buds too much.
