Jade Garden Chinese Take-out

I’m a local, always order from them. Ordered food last week and asked for the fried half chicken, they sent chicken wings. Called them and the guy had an attitude, then said he will bring the half chicken….fine. Showed up and asked for the wings back….hmmm, okay what are you doing? Serving these wings to other customers? CRAZY! Be aware!

We inadvertently ordered from this place a few days ago. I say inadvertently because my wife called the number on a flyer that we recently had received; she thought it was a new flyer from our go-to Chinese restaurant, Jade Garden on Merrick Road, from which we have been ordering for many years. The address was not on the front of the flyer—it was on the back so if you looked at it quickly, the hook was set—you were going to get a different restaurant from the Jade Garden that has been in Freeport for decades.If the owner of this new place was so confident of the food in his restaurant, one would think he would have chosen a different name for his place rather than use an existing name. Even a cursory search for the name would have revealed that an existing restaurant in the very same town was already using it and had been using it for many years.We knew something was off when we tried the food. It was disappointing. We originally thought that maybe the chef had left and somebody less accomplished had taken his place. It was not until I saw a post on Facebook that I suspected what might have happened and when I subsequently asked my wife where she had gotten the phone number she used to order the food, the truth became evident.If you want to try this new place, by all means do so, but if you want to order from your old favorite, be advised—this ain't it. And if you think that my rating, in part, is colored by the name-poaching, you would be correct.

Terrible in every way possible!!! The owner took the name of a well established Jade Garden restaurant that has been in Freeport for many years. The owner should be a shamed for stealing the name of an established business, then responding by asking if the name was patented!! REALLY. This business is horrible. Will never visit. Unacceptable.

This restaurant is operating with the name of another long time Freeport restaurant which has caused customers to inadvertently order from the wrong Jade Garden. That is not right! There is room in the town for more than one restaurant and it can be done without hurting another business.

Called by mistake after receiving menu in mail. Not the original Jade Garden in Freeport in Elks Plaza. Wasn’t friendly on phone when I questioned their location and use of same name
