Gusto - Vila Real de Santo António

Pizzas were excellent exceptional dough with good quality ingredients for toppings meant for great flavour and texture. Along with great friendly service. Meant for overall an amazing eating experience.

It's hard to find good pizza in Portugal, but Gusto's is an exception. We came here with friends for dinner and enjoyed both the presunto mozzarella pizza as well as the white pizza with mushrooms. The crust was nice and crispy, not overdone. The only disappointment was that they didn't have their infamous tiramisu dessert, so we had to substitute. Excellent venue for good friends, good food and good wine. Overall very friendly service with authentic Italian pizza (finally! . We will be back if we are in the area.

First off my wife and I live locally and often eat out. When my wife and I went to dinner here we never expected the service and the food to be so S t! First off, when we tried to ask about the menu to the waiter/owner/manager/customer yes he barely does all!! in English and he kept replying to us in Italian very quickly as well despite never speaking Italian to him, while he was in between having beers and stroking dogs with his friends and the chef at the other table. Once we finally ordered the only dishes available because they didn’t have anything in the menu and only had two items! we saw that the same chef who was stroking the dog on the other table was going to ‘cook’ still makes me laugh our food, returning into the bar and drinking beers out of the bottle behind the bar before disappearing into the kitchen in two 5 minute intervals. I also never once saw the chef wash his hands. When the food finally came, the pasta tasted as though it hadn’t even been cooked, rather heated up in a microwave... then thrown together by the same chef who plays with dogs and drinks beer in between microwave bells. Since nowhere else was open at that moment, we tried to swallow our pride and just eat as we didn’t have another opportunity and had a late night flight. There were shells hidden in the food that my wife bit and hurt her teeth to which the manager yelled at us. I wasn’t actually able to finish it service taste quality of ingredients was so bad and when the owner came over looking so proud, I told him that I thought the sauce was very bland and it had no taste, and halfway... literally halfway through the sentence he told myself and my wife to go F ourselves to my wife and I and snatched the plates aggressively away for the best! . All the whole bud chef playing with the dog proceeded to tell us to go F ourselves too and F off which all happened to be in English by the way, incredible isn’t it? . Luckily my wife and I didn’t need to pay for such appalling service because we followed half of his instructions and proceeded to F off. Now we understand why none of the other locals go there. Ps. We are local people who live in this city. There are much better places to go than this one. I was so surprised to see the other reviews on his page, essentially stealing business from the places which actually deserve it. This is the 6th country I’ve lived in and at Gusto the service is worse than some places in India, honestly. Primeira vez visitando Gusto para jantar. Encontrei uma pequena mesa perto da porta, já que era uma noite quente. Os aperitivos (bruscheta e salada) foram bem apresentados e ingredientes de qualidade. Fui comer uma pizza que estava bem saborosa e os ingredientes eram perfeitos? Gostei do chef cantando? e o servidor foi simpático e atencioso. Obrigado por uma refeição memorável e recomendo. Atenção: somente dinheiro e aconselhamos chegar cedo, pois é um lugar pequeno.

First time visiting Gusto for dinner. Found a small table near the door since it was a hot night out. The appetizers (bruschetta and salad) were well displayed and quality ingredients. Went for a pizza which was quite tasty and ingredients were perfect Enjoyed the chef singing and the server was friendly and attentive. Thank you for a memorable meal and highly recommend. Please note: cash only and advise arriving early since it's a small place.
