That is until I happened to look up one evening and see the terrace of this restaurant on the first floor. The entrance is down a side street and you would be forgiven for thinking it was closed down. The owner is a very friendly 75 year old man who takes the time to go around each table talking to his customers. Don't plan to get a quick bite and go in this place, as each dish takes time, but is so worth the wait. I had Monk fish and shrimp kebab with portions so big I thought I'd never finish it....but I did. Went there again on my last night in Monte Gordo. It's a place to have an inexpensive tasty meal while you watch the sunset, with no pressure to leave. I promised Victor I would return, I think I shall!
Friendly place, with big screen for football events. Service was slow to start. We both ordered tomato soup as a starter, which we assumed would have been prepared earlier! After what seemed ages, it appeared. Lovely it was, too. Clearly homemade, with the occasional bit of tomato or oregano in a spoonful. Rich and satisfying. Pork chops for my wife were cold, so we sent them back. When they returned they were judged very good and enjoyed greatly. I had half a chicken grilled on the barbecue outside and slathered in piri piri sauce. Lovely. Good portions all round. My wife was eating on the fixed price 10€ menu, so dessert was then served. Like a luxury viennetta. Delicious. Then coffee. Then a really nice almond liqueur to which the waiter had added a few drops of lemon juice to counteract the sweetness. All this, on my wife's side, for 10€! By this point they must have been feeling sorry for me, eating from the a la carte menu, as they gave me a liqueur too, FOC. Overall, very good and excellent value.
We just wanted to have breakfast somewhere else. But that was closed so we walked by this restaurant and thought let 's just try a Dutch speaking restaurant. We had the 'uitsmeiter ' which was a good begin for the morning. Only the fresh orange was warm they could have drop some ice blocks. But the service was okay and was nice
Ive never had such a bad Hawaii pizza, the athmosphere is terrible, would never reccomend it to amyone! Plus, cant pay with card.
A few years ago we visited this place. It is now on another spot, but the rest is the same. The tourist menu has still the same price. I like the warm starter. The food is good and has a good price.
