Casarão - Vila Nova de Gaia

Saturday at 19:40 we arrived at the restaurant and it was almost empty. We asked for a table for 4 people because we had no reservations. They chose one outside the door, through which cold wind came. At the beginning we... although it was an air conditioning and asked to lower the intensity or shut it off, but it all came from the door fringes it was so annoying cold. We asked for another table that was more guarded and the employee who visited us immediately replied that there was no one and it was the only table available. After a few moments a couple arrived without reservation and the same employee arranged a 4 seats table for them, far away from the windy door. So unfair! We asked him how it was possible when we first asked and he answered that he had only the table we were sitting. He was so arrogant and rude and ignored us. We spoke to his superior and he answered in the same mood. Was it because most of us are Asian? I am Portuguese and felt ashamed of this behavior, they felt prescribed and sacrificed by Xenophobia. They failed us and there was no predisposition to solve. It was an inconspicuous invitation. I do not recommend this place as you can find in a few meters, better restaurants with pleasant conditions and incredible things. Thank God we left, our night was very nice in another place nearby.

There are many places to enjoy good food in Porto, and this restaurant takes the first place for me. Well located, a block from the beach, there is a sea view from the windows, but you do not have to pay ocean prices or... from acceptable tourist foods. Menu had something for everyone from fish and seafood to very good beef. We shared excellent starters, shared our main dishes and everything was fantastic! Casarao served the best grilled octopus each of us had tasted. And we are not easy to please quantity of food. The house wine was also delicious and for 7 euros a bottle it was a great bargain. Last but not least we were served by a waiter who had the best humour! Understated and funny, funny, Funny!

Já visitei o espaço tantas vezes, penso que desde novinha já ia jantar com os meus pais lá. E para depois de tantos anos, continuar cliente, é porque o serviço é agradável e a comida é boa! A última vez foi num aniversario familiar, em que ficamos, mais uma vez, deliciados com a comida! Polvo à Lagareiro! Recomendo!

Restaurante perto da praia conhecido sobretudo pelos pratos de bacalhau. Meia dose chega para duas pessoas. Todos os restantes pratos são sempre bem servidos. Os rojões são muito bons. Funcionários simpáticos e prestáveis. Os preços não foram inflacionados como acontece na vizinha Afurada.<br/
