On a très bien mangé et pas cher. La patronne est très très aimable. C'est loin de Porto (près de 180 km) mais si on pouvait on irait tous les jours. La ville de Pocinho n'a rien de spécial à voir (si les beaux paysages) mais ça veut le détour. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I rarely rate 5 stars, because there is always a detail that calls into question that rating. Or there isn't something excellent that compensates for this eventual flaw. We booked in advance, to ensure that when we arrived at Pocinho after more than 3 hours on the interregional train that left São Bento, at 9:20, there was a table waiting for us. When we arrived, around 1 pm, Dona Albertina, with her rude manner that can offend some urban minds, had our table reserved. The way can be rude, but the intention is the best: it is to serve the best you can and know how, with quality and honesty. We were 2 adults and two children, we asked the employee, who helps at the weekend, for a veal chop and a Miradouro steak. Faced with this request, D. Albertina immediately came to advise us that given the size of the servings, we should choose just one dish and at the end, if we wanted more, we could quickly make a “bifinho”. So we chose the steak and a mixed salad. According to the hostess' experience, the portion was sufficient, but we chose to order a “bifinho”, in the innocence of being small but it wasn't. It was almost as big as the steak. It is these details that we take to the memory of the places, simple space, simplicity in the treatment, honesty and excellent food! This all happened on a Saturday in July, the day of the week when the neighboring restaurant closes, causing a greater concentration of customers arriving due to the train schedule. When you go to Pocinho, visit D. Albertina and think that she just wants to serve you in the best way she knows how... everything else doesn't matter when you're at the table. Even though it's a rustic space, even with some smell of grilling (how do you eat a good steak without being grilled? , even listening to the owner's command voice.
