Ghisallo - Vienna

I enjoyed talking to the owner and having drinks, and the menu was wonderful! They had a nice bike that I fell in love with and bought. I really like this concept!

Delicious food prepared in Italian surroundings. We had the most amazing waiter and helped us with an excellent choice of wine.

We had just arrived in Vienna four weekend visit and after a quick look at TA this looked like the best food local to our apartment. We were able to book online on the restaurants website. Its a combination of restaurant and cycling shop on the main Schonbrunner Strasse so easy to find. It feels large inside with the cycling shop half being empty. The menu is mainly Italian with a few local dishes thrown in as well. Frustratingly out of the 7 main courses 2 were unavailable and another 1 had only 1 portion remaining this is poor. We did in the end find dishes we could order. We all ordered 2 courses of the 3 non dessert courses available (ie starters, pastas and mains) and in all cases the food was exceptional. The king prawn linguine deserves a particular mention for its size and taste. The service unfortunately was unbelievably slow and as there were only 5 tables being occupied it must have been to understaffing in the kitchen. So overall it’s quite difficult to rate (hence 3 stars) excellent food but poor availability of dishes and speed of service.

Honestly I hadn’t heard about this place until dear friends recommended it and I must say it is a real gem! Absolutely tasty, well priced and great atmosphere!

Had a very nice evening out with my two grown up/college children, where the food, wine, music and design of Ghisallo made a great stage for a long evening with a good talk. Was so happy we made a reservation here in advance, also as we probably would not have discovered it if we simply had stayed at the beaten tourist tracks. Highly recommend!
