Loved it, a bit of a jewel when discovered, opens right up to plenty of space, and the terrace was spot on. Friendly service, with good recommendations when asked..... Will visit again

Absolutely love this pub. Only moved to Colchester from London late last year and was worried about the pub situation, given the binge booze Britain reputation of the main strip. Despite that, have managed to find a few decent pubs, this one being the best. Independent brews on the taps, friendly, knowledgeable staff, nice beer garden and a warm atmosphere. Quite a mix of clientele from younger to older. Live music weekly, lots of ale, cider etc events. Reminds me of going to the pub with my dad, when I was a kid. Perfect. The only downside is that I haven't been able to get there as frequently as I would like, due to having had my first child recently! Photo is from the beer garden

Nice choice of beer in a cosy establishment. It does indeed feel like a 'proper pub '. Beer was well kept and decent price. I honestly can 't fault it. Ended up here after a cycle ride from Norwich and it was a welcome stop off!
