After sharing some additional details with the management team, I was reassured that they would make changes to avoid such issues in the future, and I genuinely believe they will follow through. I understand that businesses have had to adapt over the last couple of years, and this establishment is clearly aware of that. Knowing that my initial feedback led to positive changes gives me confidence to continue visiting this pub/restaurant. Oh, and by the way, I now feel comfortable bringing a birthday cake to celebrate my loved ones! I usually dislike writing negative reviews, but I felt it was necessary to explain why I did this one. I called the Loghouse to see if I could drop off a special birthday cake for my daughter's celebration. The staff approved the delivery, assuring me that since the mandates had been lifted, it was business as usual. I delivered the cake and candles an hour before our dinner reservation, asking the staff to bring it out with lit candles once our dinner plates were cleared. I also made sure to tell them I'd be wearing a specific shirt for easy recognition, and they agreed to relay this information to the evening staff. Dinner was fine, though it was just average. After our plates were cleared, I patiently waited for the cake. When I asked the server about it, she seemed confused and claimed it wasn't allowed. After discussing it with both her and the kitchen staff—who all agreed that everything regarding the cake was acceptable—she disappeared for about five minutes. When she returned, she had the cake still in its packaging, with the lid open and the candles lit but refused to take it out and serve it on a plate. My advice: if you're planning to celebrate a birthday here, consider leaving the cake at home, or at the very least, provide typed instructions for the serving staff.
We both ordered the prime rib. The Yorkshire pudding was more like bread, and the potatoes and gravy were cold, so I sent mine back. The kitchen redid the entire plate, and it was hot when it was served. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking, which was disappointing. However, our waitress was wonderful, and I appreciate the 5-star service.
We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday while on our way to Victoria. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant had a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. They offered a wide variety of drinks, and the pub food was tasty with generous portions.
It seems that anything deep-fried, such as the calamari, fries, and chicken burgers, taste like the oil is old; everything we've ordered has been excessively greasy and overcooked, almost to the point of being burnt, leaving a rather unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth from the oil. On our most recent visit this past Friday, my husband ordered the chicken burger with cheese and bacon, but he couldn't even take a bite of the chicken because it was so overcooked and hard. We had to send it back since the cheese and bacon on top were so burnt they resembled leather. I ordered the beef taco bowl, but the shell was also overcooked and greasy, and there was hardly any dressing on it, making it quite dry and inedible. The other two members of our group weren’t satisfied either; they had the falafel wrap, which they described as dry, and the cod wrap, which was just "okay." I hope management can address these issues, as the cooking oil should be changed regularly to prevent this from happening.
I visit this restaurant almost every time I come with my family, and the staff is always incredible! The food is delicious and absolutely worthy of praise!
