Futaba Japanese Restaurant - Victoria

I went to get takeout and ordered the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. The flavor was delicious, but it took nearly an hour for my order to be ready. I recommend calling ahead to order! The staff seemed overwhelmed with online orders and in-person customers, and with only one person preparing the food, it's understandable why they were struggling to keep up with demand.

This place is pretty dang good. A little pricey. But hey. I got it on skip. The sushi rice has improved! Still needs work. But its not bad. Now. What we all care about. The cuts if fish. Very. Very good on this order. Guys. If you can figure out your rice more vinegar, less cook time and water you will crush it

I have a preference for poorly prepared food, so this restaurant is perfect for me. Every dish I tried here tasted terrible, including the ginger! I suspect it may have even been spoiled, but that just added to the experience. The tuna sashimi we ordered was served frozen, which delighted me. If you appreciate subpar sushi and bad quality food, then this is the ideal place for you!

Yum! I dined at this restaurant with some friends before a show at the metro. The location was convenient and the service was quick. My only issue was that the yam roll was served with brown rice, which was not requested or mentioned on the menu. The brown rice was drier compared to the white rice used in our other sushi dishes. Next time, I will make sure to ask for white rice instead!

Used to come regularly in a former life. Great experiences always. Chef moved on to open Kissako in Oak Bay, and the quality of sushi here declined. That was a long time ago, but poor sushi memories linger. I came back for lunch recently (must be new ownership) and it was great. Back twice since and I am glad it's back.
