Came in on a Wednesday afternoon and the overall experience was decent. Service: We got seated soon after we came into the door.
While visiting Vancouver this past summer, and searching on the net for good dinner spots, we decided on Chinois. The walk was longer than we thought it would be, but very doable from the waterfront. The cuisine is Chinese and the décor is a modern, funky, Asian style. We opted to sit in the bar area. My husband ordered Hot and Sour Soup (lots of pork and vegetables – one of the best he has had), while I had the Wonton Soup (best broth ever – bbq duck broth); then we shared the Cashew Chicken (great flavour, not too much sauce, and lots of cashews) and Bok Choy with Enoki Mushrooms (perfectly cooked with lots of ginger). In typical Chinese fashion (food comes out as prepared, not as ordered), our soup came last….. (going with the flow…).While the food here was definitely worth the visit, Jessica and Rebecca were the highlights of the evening…..best friends who both work as servers at Chinois. Jessica took our order after offering some practical suggestions (splitting dishes, so as not to have leftovers). Both are interested in travelling and wanted to know about our ventures, so we started talking about travelling and sites we have seen. Jessica shared some stories of when she and Rebecca did a road trip through the southern States last year, travelling to Nashville and around. Jessica mentioned how passionate Rebecca was about visiting Nashville, as she is an aspiring Country singer. Both offered suggestions on other places to drink and eat in the area and some sites to visit. Both young women were super friendly, enthusiastic, and really interested in talking to us….. During dinner it poured rain outside, and although it had stopped before we left, Jessica brought us an umbrella from their Lost & Found "just in case” – Thanks Jessica! because the rain did start again on our walk back…..
Came in for cocktails and appy's. order two him Martinis, hot and sour soup small and the pork potstickers. Cost about $50 and it wasn't worth the money. Not that anything was bad but I could go next store to the keg and enjoy a great steak dinner for that price.
