This was our second visit. A very fine 3 or 4 course meal and hard to beat at the price point. Appetizers: quail with a very fresh salad and a terrine of beef cheeks around a center of fois gras and apple chutney. Main. We both had leg of lamb stuffed with spinach, pine nuts, and a full flavored sauce. Desserts: a creative variation on the Macaron trend was raspberries topped with a meringue bonnet and a chocolate and caramel tartlet. She who takes wine: 2 glasses of a Bordeaux to go with the lamb and fois gras. The dining room is nicely and somewhat traditionally designed. Candles on table coverings were decorative as the room is well lit.
This is a really excellent restaurant in the fashion of typical excellent French cuisine. I had a really nice starter, a main course, cheese, desert and a coffee. The service was excellent, typical of the best. It was relatively good value. The service was good and the waiter was very professional. I eat there twice, once on my own and once with a frien
We found Le Derby's on a walk around the shopping district in Vichy. The menu looked intriguing and we decided to come back for dinner. (The restaurant is in the Logis Midland Hotel and we did not book for dinner as it was mid week. We returned for dinner and the restaurant was bustling, a fact we understood after our meal. The lady at reception (the owner I believe was most kind and arranged for us to have a very nice table even though we had not booked. There are many choices on the several menus and a la carte lists. We both were looking forward to their signature lamb dish which was really good. (Oddly, many restaurants in France seemed not to serve lamb on this trip. First courses were fresh and interesting. Dessert enticing. Wine by the glass suggested by the efficient waiter. All was well.
