Eating was bad, came late, cold and service not good
Highly sofisticated local food on a “michelin star” level. Relaxed athmosphere without dress code. We recommend the 8 course menu. The chef himself in serving and explaining all details. His book includes recepies and local stories of the Island. A good memory and gift for friends. We will defenately be back.
From the beginning of our meal to the end, Slippurinn did not disappoint; even the bread was spot on. There was even a great vegetarian option for me (I will forever be searching for more deep fried celeriac! . Further, the service has been great, and the atmosphere inviting. Pretty touristy, I’d say, as we at near a few familiar faces we’ve encountered on our travels. The best part of the meal (which is a pretty high bar we’re the drinks. A hand illustrated menu complete with fun little descriptions of each creation, the drinks were outstanding. The first one I ordered may very well be the best drink I’ve ever had. I could have easily drank down the whole menu, but I’d easily start again with the arctic thyme.
We came for our second night in Heimæy. The variety of fish dishes is huge. I loved the fact that they use both for food and drinks all the wild herbs growing in Vestmannæyjar. Love the fact than chefs take some of the courses at the table themselves. The food was just ten minutes late but they surprised us with an excellent halibut entrée. The staff was always caring about our experience. Super recommended!
