We both had a lovely steak and some local wine. It's on the main road outside Vers the address on trip advisor kept taking us down to Pont du Gard but we found it in the end. Would go back if in the area.
Went there with family and a child. Food was authentic and very nice. Atmosphere was beautiful. Child menu was great. A beautiful summer night.
Great restaurant with local wines (don't make the mistake of ordering a bottle; so much more expensive than asking for a caraffe - and the house-wine is definitely recommended). They had English menus, in case your French isn't up to coping with the various fish dishes. Good selection of French cuisine. Booking is most definitely recommended, as it does get busy (deservedly so). Service was always really friendly - just a lovely little place.
We were on our way to Uzes where we had intended to have lunch, having visited the Pont du Gard, and as we passed this restaurant we thought we would stop there instead as it looked so pleasant. And pleasant it certainly was - a typical Provencal meal, in a shady courtyard outside an ancient building. The food was delicious; the best of Provencal home cooking, and the service was excellent. And it was very reasonably priced. If you are thinking of visiting the beautiful old town of Uzes, stop here for lunch first - you won't regret it.
The setting at La Begude is wonderful. Eating outside in the pleasantly shaded courtyard is one of the real pleasures of holidays in France. I agree with some of the other reviews about the food; it isn't haute cuisine but at £15 for a 3 course meal they aren't pretending. It's decent tasty "home cooked" fare. The service we experienced (3 occasions) was very friendly and particularly helpful.
