Although the proprietors speak little English and I was the only one in the party who could speak French, they were so friendly and helpful and we all decided to have pizza. It's been years since I had a pizza but I have to say that these were delicious. We decided to go there again on our last evening as one of our party had had an accident and didn't want to travel too far. I went inside after we'd ordered our drinks, to see about ordering food but was told that there was no food that night. There was no bread. The bar was just about to close but within a few minutes of my asking about food Madame came out to us and offered omelettes and chips or whtatever variation of ham, cheese, eggs, chips and salad we would like. There was no bread but we could have savoury biscotti. What service. Whilst Madame was sorting out our order, her husband was stacking the unused chairs and tables ready to close. Our meal was superb - made better by the fact that everything was done with a smile and wasn't at all what we were expecting. If we are in the area again we will certainly visit.
We visited the bar twice during our stay at Vernou sur Brenne. The first time we all had pizza, some also had chips, and it was delicious. Staff/owners are very friendly and helpful. The second time we went food was not available but then Patrice came out to us and said that she could do any variation of ham, cheese, eggs and chips and although there was no bread she had biscotti. We opted for various omelettes and chips. Absolutely delicious with tomato salad she had also provided. There were six of us and they were about to close when we arrived so we couldn't have asked for better service. The food was delicious too.The owners speak very little English so brush up on your French if you need to.
For the great happiness of the vernadians, there is a change of owner... Finally, the village will breathe, the new ones are nicer, nothing to do with the others, who gave us a great service when we left.
