Bulk Barn - Vernon

This place is fantastic! They offer a wide selection of spices, baking ingredients, and bulk foods. The prices are very affordable! The service is excellent! They even carry some harder-to-find items and organic foods. It's tough to walk away from here!

Not bad overall, but I really wish it opened at 9 instead of 9:30. It feels a bit late, especially since some of us prefer to get things done early in the morning. Having it open by 9 would be much more convenient.

I went to buy two types of sprinkles: twinkle medley and yellow sprinkles. They were packaged in separate bags—one priced at about $6 per 100 grams and the other at around $1.49 per 100 grams. When the cashier weighed both bags, she charged me based on the higher price. I questioned her, pointing out that each type had a different price. She insisted that since I was mixing them, they had to be treated as if they were all the same price. I was baffled since they were clearly in separate bags. I tried to explain my point, but she didn’t seem to get it. Ultimately, I decided to just buy the yellow sprinkles because she wouldn’t listen, and she kept defending her reasoning, which was illogical. I finally managed to get her to see the price of just the twinkle medley, and of course, it turned out that if she had charged me for them separately, the total would have been less than what she initially quoted. Still, she didn’t seem to understand. It was quite amusing!

The prices are reasonable based on what you choose to buy. I typically visit when I'm craving something sweet, as they offer some really good gummies. However, I've noticed that the staff rarely interacts with me or offers assistance; they often seem to be chatting with each other near the register. While they might be discussing work, it creates an awkward atmosphere when I approach to pay for my items. I can't help but feel like I'm inconveniencing them, and they barely acknowledge my presence. It would be nice to see a bit more engagement from the employees.
