I was dining in the Atwater location, but also ventured into the downtown location just off St. Catherine Street at Peel. The Atwater location was clean and had a 50's diner feel to it. The downtown location seemed a lot less well cared for and the staff were far less friendly, verging on unwelcoming to those who were less than well dressed. The Atwater location food was fresher and the downtown location left me with a stale grease taste. The prices are reasonable, and it is a decent place to grab a quick breakfast or coffee, though short on hospitality for all diners in the downtown core. Their signature dish (translated name means the "Lumberjack") is a hearty breakfast with lots of variety....what the British might call a full English breakfast.
The first restaurant I tried in Montreal was Belle Province, and I have to say, I was not impressed.
Lots of oil, but if you're feeling adventurous and willing to indulge in some unhealthy deliciousness, go for it.
Another La Belle Province (this one IS part of the chain, not all are) Typical La Belle Pronvince junk.
