On nun’s island, this restaurant is mostly for locals a bit out of the way but quite pleasant. Nice terrace in the shade, a bit of flies however… Food wise, I had the duck confit with excellent french fries, my wife had fish of the day and one of my friends had the scallops and all were very good. My other friend had linguine prosciutto and found it just average. Wine selection not extensive but reasonably priced.
We were there on a cold February evening. La Socca is a warm, hospitable venue. Our meals were tasty, and the service, very good. Merci!
I ate at La Socca for a first time a couple of weeks ago in spite that I live in Nun 's Island since 25 years. The location was not inviting independently of the seasons, probably a question of personal perception.I asked for the Table d 'Hote menu and had a courge and sweet potato potage and grilled salmon as entree. Nothing was remarkable, it was just good, le potage was relatively tasty but somewhat cold; the salmon was well grilled as requested with a portion of also grilled vegetables including Brussels sprouts that unfortunately I do not eat. Service was slow and our water glasses were not refilled. We had wine by the glass but we drink fair amounts of water. I have read shared comments about service and food in La Socca and I am in the middle of those.
One can always look forward to a wonderful, warm, nearly family-like New Year's eve dinner at La Socca. But there is not only the atmosphere but also the food that was excellent. A fixed menu fore the occasion, Four course meal with options and very nicely served by attentive, a professional wait staff that new how to inquire and were anxious to see that their clientele was pleased and enjoying themselves. It is the same during the year, maybe not with the same panache. After all, it is a little French restaurant on a little island of nun's, hidden in a little shopping plaza, but excellent
