Nestled in a picturesque setting, the estate combines historical charm with modern flair. Their wine selection is commendable, offering a range from vibrant whites to bold reds, each reflecting the unique terroir of the region. The standout feature is their Zinfandel (De Blaauwe Klip), a rarity in South African vineyards, providing a unique tasting opportunity. The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, eager to share the stories behind each bottle. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Overall, Blaauwklippen offers a delightful exploration of Stellenbosch wines in a serene and beautiful environment.
Nougat and gin tasting was excellent. The lady that served us was very very well informed and so friendly. We had a blast! Highly recommend.
Beautiful farm with lots to do. The wine tasting was good and lunch at the restaurant was delicious. Our waiter at the wine tasting had almost no knowledge of the wines are was serving, so wasn't a great experience.
Visited Blaauwklippen Wine Estate to attend an Expo on Saturday, and for a lunch appointment at their restaurant. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Food was excellent as usual...and the waiters were spot on as well as the restaurant manager). Thats what I'm talking about...a really pleasant overall experience!!! Great synergy guys, we can't wait to return. You earned, and deserved your 5 stars. Food was excellent)
…..We came here to celebrate my wife’s 69th birthday and the birthday girl insisted on a venue that is casual lii elegant, this is what exact lii is the mission statement of Blaauwklippen “Our country casual restaurant offers laidback elegance and classic dishes…” This is one of the oldest wine estates in the Stellenbosch area since way back as1682 AD and like all other wine estates in the area they are all so different and yet so the same. Picturesque stunning land scapes with running lash green lawns and many impressive snow white Cape Dutch buildings all around the grounds housing “Tasting Rooms”, “Deli Store” and “Venue Rooms” etc, etc. Even the “Vine Yards” in its autumn stage is an awesome impressive unique sight to behold. Its always reassuring when one arrives at a venue that has a manned security post, it immediate lii gives you the assurance of safe tii and class. We were taking aback by the sheer size of the restaurant big and spacious and yes its true the contemporary style shows many elements and touches of true Old Cape style. The outside seating is real lii impressive as you can enjoy the garden scenes under big trees. They have a nice Bar Corner counter but they serve your drinks at the tables. The menu pages is in a leather bound cover which holds about 6 pages offering very down to earth real home type meals such as “Fish Chips” and “Burgers” to (But one problem to mention is that the size of print is so small you real li have to strain your eyes to read it). We started off with a bottle of “MCC BRUT BLAAUWKLIPPEN 1682” R 235 per bottle to kick off the celebration. It was crisp yet smooth and very bubbly. Our food order was: Starter; 1. Baked Ricotta to share but they were out of ricotta (so sad) so we replaced it with a Wood Fried Flatbread filled with Parma Ham, Rocket Parmesan Shavings (It looked good on presentation and even tasted better). Mains: 1. Crisp ii Fish Chips R 145 (Fresh Tempura style hake with classic hand cut fries, pickles house salad) 2. Lamb Ravioli R 225 (Large pockets of pasta filled with pilled lamb “deningvleis” served with tamarind butter, roasted almonds, celery dressing parmesan foam) 3. Fillet Steak R 250 (250g Grass fed beef fillet on a sizzling Himalayan salt slab drenched in chimichurri sauce, served with hand cut Parmesan oregano dusted fries and house salad) 4. Ribeye of the Bone R 275 (550g Pasture raised ribeye of the bone with a butter of your choice, served with hand cut Parmesan oregano dusted fries and house salad) All our meals were well presented and was very fresh and taste tii the steaks was of a top grade, very tender and done just as ordered. The Lamb Ravioli was insidious lii delicious. Real scrumptious servings all round! Desserts: 1. Chocolate torte dusted 90% cocoa R 85 2. Classic affogato homemade vanilla ice cream with espresso R 50…..Although a few setbacks but the overall experience was an escapade on its own. Simba our waiter was brand new on the job but he put in a great effort to satisfy our every need and request. We were informed that in the coming weeks they are going to launch a brand new menu so that will be reason enough for us to visit again in the future. They also have free guest WiFi no password needed. NB! The toilets are well kept and as clean as a whistle….There is lots of parking! …We high lii recommend a visit to this establishment!….PS! It's very kid dii friend lii as they have a large playground with equipment..
