The steak is brought to you on a platter some is still on the bone some is sliced. The meat is 1.5 kilos. What we did not know was that you pay for all the steak not just what you eat. Impossible for 2 people I would think. Our bill for this meal plus 1 bottle of wine was over 100 euros. This was with 10% off as we're staying at the hotel. We had had this meal before at the hotel and there were 4 of us so not bad for 4 but quite pricey for 2. We did not complain at the time as we thought we would wait until we checked out. The staff were quite good about it but did say we should have complained the evening before. They then deducted another 10% but we did not leave happy. They all spoke perfect English and I do think this is one of the best restaurants on the Lido.
We went to this restaurant as part of our group outings, nice place, nice food, but, very rude service. The servers took the plates away before we were finished, without asking first. They didn't allow our Tour guides to sit with us, but outside. They wouldn't serve more wine to people because there was a two glass limit included, not given the option of paying for any extra. All in all, their attitude spoiled our evening..
This amazing steakhouse is located inside the Grand Hungaria and Ansonia hotel, which in itself is a gem of art nouveau architecture. The restaurant doesn't disappoint either: once you enter, you feel like you are stepping into a great ballroom of the days past. The decor includes art nouveau paintings, statues, chandeliers and perfectly set tables in a large open floor format. We were there in the evening, and there was live piano music, which adds immensely to the opulence and the intimate atmosphere. The service is impeccable, with helpful recommendations on food and wine choices. The prices are very reasonable for the location and the quality of the meat. By the way, their best cut is the T bone fresh steak for two, which is brought to you properly sliced and raw, so you cook it to your own liking on a mini grill that is set up on your table it's lots of fun! Of course, if you are less adventurous, you can have your steaks grilled perfectly in the kitchen. The restaurant also has an outside seating, complete with a nice bar. In all, a perfect meal, complete with a nice serving of a romantic old world nostalgia. Note: the location is on the Lido island, not in the historic center of Venice. The island is well worth a visit in and of itself; consider this restaurant to end your day exploring Lido.
