The local, provided with dehor, naturally offers fresh fish in its various recipes. excellent salad of polyp and grilled accompanied by good white wine. good value for money considering the Venetian average.
This restaurant is fabulous! I must confess I hesitated to write the words above on Tripadvisor. I do not want another fabulous place in Venice destroyed by mass tourism. Venice is flooded by the wrong kind of people . A beautiful city killing itself year after year under the pressure of mass tourism. And it gets harder and harder to find an authentic place to eat in this city. But this restaurant is defintitely one of these. This is such a fantastic place to eat in Venice way off the beaten track. The people working in this restaurant want to earn their living as we all do but not at the expense of their soul. And they give the people who are lucky enough to have discovered their restaurant really amazing food. I discovered this restaurant two years ago when I stayed for some weeks in Venice by chance. And this year I returned to it a little afraid that it had gone the same way as so many restaurants in Venice selling its soul to mass tourism. The young woman working here recognized me immediately after two years! Has anyone any idea what that means? That means this restaurant really pays attention to its customers and the people working here enjoy when their customers enjoy their food. I hope and I am confident this Venetian restaurant has many years to go. It is too far from San Marco to attract the daily flood of mass tourism. And it is too close to the very heart of Venice.
Lovely and helpful staff, wonderful sea food, and a pretty good price considering it's not far from Rialto and San Marco.
Went on the recommendation of the owner of our accommodation on our last night in Venice. Total cost for 4 (two adults and two kids aged 10 and 11) including tip was 190 Euros. This includes several bottles of sparkling water, cover charge, one glass of prosecco, one glass of house white, two glasses of sgroppino (more on that later), two glasses of complimentary limoncello, two ravioli dishes, house speciality for two (more on that later too), and two deserts (chocolate lava and pistachio cheesecake). Not cheap but good value. Situated slightly off the main tourist drag, attentive, friendly, unhurried service. Menu generally traditional Venetian (lots of seafood). The house specialty was seafood (mainly shellfish and calamari) in a somewhat spicy tomato sauce (tomato, garlic, basil, chilli) which you eat with the aid of a lobster bib and shelfish surgical instruments, after which the waiters whisk the sauce back to the kitchen and add spaghetti. The sauce is quite something when it has had the seafood sat in it for a good while. Sgroppino it turns out is a Venetian palate cleanser made with lemon sorbet, vodka and sometimes prosecco. It was a revelation and something we will try to replicate back home. Desserts were delicious and mercifully not oversized. All in all highly recommended.
