Half Moon - VARESE

Restaurant among the most original in Varese, both in terms of cuisine and in terms of environment and service. Over the years we have been 2 times and we really enjoyed it; as soon as you are accommodated you are welcomed by the kind owner Andrea who also prepares to guide you in the choice in the menu, something not easy to be a non-generalist kitchen. On the other hand, dishes must say that they are particularly refined and made at the moment, which is not for granted. In short, an informal place and a very light atmosphere, great for spending a simple evening with family or friends.

I decided to take a mix of appetizers between skewers and rolls accompanied by special sauces and flavored in a skillful and different way and I must say that they made the taste of the dish more intense and pleasant. Then as a first dish I took a coconut milk soup and chicken accompanied by white rice. I must say that the taste between sweet and salty in this dish is well balanced also thanks to the taste of mushrooms, the probable low presence of ginger and rice accompanied. Finally I decided to take a dessert made with rice flour and steam coconut with coconut crumbs above. The crumbs showed the touch that gave more flavor to the dessert since after a menu of many different tastes this dish was very delicate of taste and well balanced with the rest of the menu. The staff was friendly and courteous, to explain every single dish and the right accompaniment for each of them after what quality and price for my parer are more than deserved.

Thanks to the average of 4.6 stars I convinced myself to book a dinner in this place I came thinking I was wrong because the furnishings are of a pub of the '90s nothing bad if it was a pub, of Thai had nothing On the kindness of the owner can not say anything but, the dinner was very disappointing especially regarding the proportion between portion and cost: High quality? I don't know. It is good But a dish with a dozen chicken breast cubes with 50gr rice as good can not cost 14/16€ Recipe with shrimps 20€ Moreover served in the dishes of the party of the unit, I do not say to remake the local but two decent dishes and a more nice presentation of the courses would not be bad I do not want to be bad but we felt screwed, 64€ for 2 appetizers and two dishes of chicken and rice and gas water is a theft We went hungry and disappointed, surely we will not come back
