Here's a straightforward pro/con assessment of our dinner. A 2.5 would be a better rating, but erring on the positive side 'cause the staff are really very kind. Pros: authentic sopes and tacos and quesadillas; good flavors; queso fundido seemed fresh as did the chorizo topping; quaint - no frills sit on top of your neighbor atmosphere is either an endearing neighborhood join or a turn off - we sat at the window next to the sidewalk so didn't mind the sardine effect; genuinely nice staff; fast kitchen even when busy; good value on the 4 for $11 and 4 for $12 tacos and sopes - you'd be wise to stick to these. The sopes were larger and more filling and more flavorful - hint, hint. Cons: menu on Trip Advisor is VERY outdated as in 55% lower than reality for example on the ceviche price; the ceviche is quite non traditional so despite my own better judgement, including the $5 price jump shock (same $5 shock applies to the fundido) we ordered it and were unsurprisingly disappointed. A previous reviewer was very accurate. We've eaten ceviche all over Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (Grand Cayman has the world's best) and this was passable maybe at $8, but not $14; 2/3 of the staff were preoccupied with their computer system for over 10 minutes it appeared as the remaining 3rd worker welcomed the incoming stream of diners; my initial water glass was disgusting with leftovers floating throughout the glass from a less than thorough cleaning job; not enough soft tortillas provided for the queso by any stretch and then of course you must pay a $1 for more; speakers are overhead near the corner window seats so be warned; guac had excessive citrus attributes. Go order the 4 for $11/$12 small bites and a Mexican beer if you like and call it a day for $20. After all, the food is tasty and the service friendly and the kitchen fast even when busy. Just have proper expectations. And fight your cravings for over priced queso (very good) and ceviche (needs a total new recipe or to be removed) to avoid a major letdown.
Food was delicious! Enjoy the margaritas at happy hour! Ruben was very friendly and took great care of us!
I went last night hoping to taste that delicious Mexican food they used to serve. It wasn't bad but it is no longer the best in Vancouver, sad. There are now better places to have tacos or chimichangas at a better price. I will go back but with lower expectations now.
Visiting from Arizona, we have alot of Mexican food to choose from here, so I was not prepared to enjoy as much as I did. It is open air somewhat, so it was a little hot in there the day we stopped, and there is not much seating so we had to wait, but it was worth it. Very friendly service, good quality food, smaller choice menu though.
