I got the waffles and they were dense and dry, the bacon had no taste, and both were room temperature. Overall way too expensive for what it is.

I have always enjoyed dining at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe for its unique ambiance and delicious food. However, during my last visit, I encountered some concerning issues that I believe need addressing.From the moment my party and I arrived, we noticed that our waitress had a negative attitude. She appeared disinterested and didn't greet us warmly, which made us feel unwelcome. Throughout the meal, we struggled to get her attention, and when we finally managed to do so, she seemed irritated by our requests for assistance.What was even more disheartening was when it came time to pay the bill. Instead of leaving the tipping decision to us, the waitress unilaterally chose the tip percentage and asked us to pay accordingly. This made us, as local residents who are familiar with tipping customs, feel like we were being treated as if we had no knowledge about how to tip appropriately.I believe that customers should have the freedom to decide on the tip amount based on the quality of service they receive. Forcing a specific tip percentage can be uncomfortable and even disrespectful, especially when the service provided did not meet our expectations.I genuinely hope that this feedback will be taken constructively, and that steps will be taken to improve the overall dining experience at Sophie's Cosmic Cafe. A friendly and attentive staff can make a significant difference in how customers perceive a restaurant, and I trust that you will address this matter promptly.Thank you for taking the time to read this comment. Had a late breakfast here after arriving by BC Ferry. I had the gluten free option, two oiached eggs, ham and toast with fruit salad. My only complaint would be the kiwi fruit were hard and not juicy and ripe. Otherwise a pleasantly pleasing time. Lots of retro ambience.
Unfortunately poor service.. I wanted to like this place since it is in such a convenient location. The atmosphere is cool but the staff is not friendly AT ALL. I’m not sure if it is the vibe of the all of them but when we walked in, at least five staff members walked by us and not one smiled, said hello or acknowledged us. We were able to be seated with no line up and our food came out decently fast. The food is mediocre and was fine for a quick breakfast. But the service left a bad taste in my mouth. When we asked for certain things like extra plates or jam etc, we felt like a nuisance. The server was not friendly at all about it. This kind of unfriendly behaviour definitely discourages leaving a tip. Although, it was automatically added with our larger group. Sadly, we will not be going back.
Loved the atmosphere and music! Feels great being there for brunch. Service was fast and staff were friendly and accommodating. I got the Greek Bennys and matcha latte and they were just okay.
