Mr Brownstone - Vancouver

We have gone to Mr. Brownstone about times now. We live in Vancouver so the drive is not long but to be honest, if we lived out of the city, we would still come all the way just for this place. Every single dish...here is incredible. My absolute favourite is the truffle poutine, I dream about it all day before we go in the evening. The ambiance is nice too, although not always too busy but the food makes up for it.

First time I went to Mr. Brownstones was to attend a birthday gathering. The place was welcoming and busy, The menu was very appealing, which made the choice very difficult. I had the lobster mac n cheese, which was absolutely to die for. The second...time we went it was nice and quiet, but welcoming. We drove from Abbotsford all the way in to Vancouver specifically to go here for dinner, and it did not disappoint. Every thing was as delicious as it was on the previous visit, and again it was a tough decision, I cant remember what I ordered, but I enjoyed my choice and tasting the choices of the others in our group. Give it a try .. you wont be disappointed. Service could improve to increase the rating.

A girlfriend and I found ourselves at Mr. Brownstone on a Tuesday night. We left the husbands and kids at home in search of a great meal and a good drink. The place was pretty empty when we arrived around By it was...completely full. We looked around the place wondering who this guy with a white coat was. We saw a flyer on the wall saying that Tuesdays is free Trivia Night at Mr. Brownstone. Fabulous! We thought. What luck! We were excited. The night didn't disappoint. The bad puns and varied trivia was right up our alley. It was a lot of fun. We decided to leave half way through because we had already decided to hit up Sweet Revenge before we had to get back to the kids. Since Mr. Brownstone was only offering Creme Brulee, it made it easier for us to leave. The food was excellent. My girlfriend is gluten intolerant and has a tomato allergy and she found several items on the menu. The server made sure to consult the chef to see what they could do for her. They have gluten free flatbread, buns, and pizza dough. That made it much easier to find something. They made us a super yummy spinach/cheese dip with little flatbread triangles made from pizza dough. I had the lettuce wraps and I loved them. We will be back for sure and probably on a Tuesday night. We will try and bring more friends too.

As the title says, I'm torn on how to review this place. I enjoyed just about everything about my visit, but the other people in my party did not. The only complaint I could make personally is that we waited quite a bit for...drinks, and it really seemed to cause an issue in service when we moved to a larger table. The switch from one server to another didn't help the service. I LOVED the duck confit potato skins. Not overly ducky but highly addictive and very tasty. A great selection of brews to choose from, and the highballs were not weak to say the least. The calamari was cooked to perfection and very tasty as well. Apparently I was the only one of the party to enjoy my food however. My wife's pear salad was bland and boring. My friends margarita tasted as if there was no tequila what so ever. The beef stroganoff was not very tasty, nor did it look like anything you would want to eat. Overall, I would go back here, but only if it was nearby, or there was nothing else to try. It's not that my experience was horrible, but out of people, I was the only one satisfied with the overall visit. Prices were reasonable, but that said, I suspect we could have spent less for better service elsewhere. I can't say don't go here, but I won't recommend it to anyone either. A shame, because the decor and location are pretty decent. I am hoping that the pub manager reads this and makes the necessary adjustments, as the place has potential. It is NOT living up to that potential as of my visit.

Best chicken wings and flat breads and chicken tacos. Yummy drinks and a great time , we go here often just wish they had an actual phone we could get through to order some pick up food t is that good I assure you .only...issue they should be open it's so good
