Masala Cafe - Vancouver

A little slow, but good solid dosas and pretty good coconut chutney. Definitely a place I would like to try again.

We had the dosa, tasted great and price was good. Friendly staff as well. We felt very full afterwards, big portion size.

Have wandered by this place since it opened about four months ago and now I am sorry it took so long to walk in. The food was great. We love Indian food and were not disappointed but it also had a bit more on it's menu then the typical Indian restaurant. There were three of us and we had three dishes plus rice and naan which was enough. We had the chicken vindaloo dosa, prawn korma and chetinad kozhi (?) chicken. All were great. We will definitely go back.

In a city with a large South Asian population you would expect good South Asian food, In fact, it is not easy to find good South Asian food in Van (Unlike Toronto, London, New York or Nairobi). There are endless trendy "Asian health food" places, many of which have the aromas and ambience but not the taste, and there is so much more to South Asian food then the BC version of Butter Chicken or the BC version of Samosa!This place prides itself in its South Asian food and its Dossa's are to dream off. The Thali's too are great, and each dish really is different to the next.
