What a pleasant surprise was in store for us in our first (of many future) visit. The welcome and hospitality was Turkish at its' best, including a very nice selection of Turkish music while we dined. What appears from the street to be a very very small place is actually very pleasantly laid out, comfortable, and a great setting for superb food. Our mains, lamb shank and Turkish kofte, were superb and served on large plates full of delicious accompaniments. The spicing in the hummus was the best we have ever had, the slight tang of the cajic brought back many travel memories. The owner/chef/server is the ultimate in friendly and helpful. We will be back, with friends, to further explore this gentleman's very fine cooking. Thanks for reminding us of the best food and hospitality of Turkey.
Intimate traditional Turkish restaurant offering a humble suite of local specialties presented tastefully and graciously by the superb owner. Never mind the fact that the food is simple but impeccable. Loads of atmosphere and the next best thing to a trip to the country itself!
This was our second time here and we've really enjoyed ourselves again. We had a voucher for dinner and were treated like kings! Such a warm welcome and stellar service. We both had the same dish - roast chicken, beef kofte, rice pilaf and salad. It was superb and a huge amount of food! The decor and music are very much Turkish. Great detail in the theme....You can also buy dried Turkish goods such as coffee, tea and deserts.
We came here for take-out, and the food did not disappoint. We were in Turkey last year, and the food brought us back to that time. We ordered the eggplant with yogurt, which is amazing with the bread they provide, as well as a kofte plate. They also gave us additional appetizers (potato salad, dolma, and white beans) which were all tasty. All this for under $30. My wife and I are sad that we don't live in Vancouver, as this would totally be in our restaurant rotation, although we're here for another week so we're definitely going back.
