Przekaż informację zwrotnąAfter an excellent dinner a year ago with their Russian server lady, Oksana, we returned for another special dinner with the same lady to attend to us. A most delightful evening.First comes a tiny, little surprise. A colorful small bite of special red beet with different colored mousses. A. As the evening progresses, it turns into a solid A.Start with Tito vodka ($10, 1 ounce, a touch brazen in the price. I buy a whole bottle for US $16.99 in my home town.) or Stolichnaya, Elite ($10,) Both first-rate. Swish it down with Steamworks Pilsner ($9) Also first rate.Appetizer: Scallops ($23) The best in consistency and preparation. Small portion of oysters, freshly harvested by the local shores (on the house.) The best. Main courses: Roast duck ($48) Tender, well prepared slices. A-Grilled Halibut ($45, special of the day.) Good-sized fresh, tender, light-colored. Could be a touch more spiced, rather bland. Still A.Drink: ½ liter of red Okanagan Skaha, Meritage (mixed grapes ($53 ($17/glass) Not much good, and definitely not worth it.Get it off your list.Desert: Crème Brulet ($12) Outstanding. A+Two things that made the dinner memorable, besides the food: 1) The presentation: A+. They must have a high-priced artist to make every item look most appealing. 2) The waitress, Oksana, the best anywhere, attentive, personable, knowledgeable, pleasant and professional to the highest degree. Will be back.
Just went to the restaurant for lunch and it was GOOD! The crab grilled cheese- honestly I almost died! It was perfection and something I will look forward to eating again!!! Tea- another delicious treat that has been revamped to showcase the elegance of YVR at tea time! The scones... THE SCONES!!! And the jam... THE JAM! Seriously, fresh home made jam on warm fresh bakes scone- I'm salivating just writing this review!!Thank you for such an excellent experience at Globe!
Usually my husband is disappointed by our hotel's breakfast buffet - but not this time!Globe @ YVR had a large variety options and everything we had was delicious. For me the standout was the Bircher Museli - I tried and failed many times to recreate it. On a whim I emailed the Fairmont and asked for the recipe - Colin Burslem the Executive Chef at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport kindly wrote back and provided it! This is just one small example of the level of customer service Globe @ YVR and the Fairmont provides, and just one of the many reasons we love staying with them.
Globe is the restaurant of the airport Fairmont hotel; it's right next to the bar, which is a more relaxing spot to wait for your flight, with deep armchairs and floor to ceiling windows. Globe also has nice views of the mountains and part of the runway, but it has an unimaginative menu. Although the food was fine, we were bemused by how much the restaurant charged for cappuccino ($8.00) and plain (not so good) coffee ($7.00). It seems almost mean to charge a lunch bill of $75.00 an additional $7.00 because I asked for half a cup of coffee after I finished the cappuccino (and didn't even get a fresh cup). I would happily have added more tip for the server instead. So beware! (Globe is okay if you don't mind over-priced airport eateries - such as Gordon Ramsay at Heathrow.)
What a fun thing to do. Afternoon Tea at the Globe @ YVR. We live in Vancouver and love going out to the Fairmont YVR for an overnight whether it's before a trip or just for fun. This seemed like a fun thing to do. The restaurant has views from all tables of the airport runways on the north side, so you are facing north to the mountains. There are numerous wonderful teas which compliment the small sandwiches and dessert type nibbles. They are served on a three-tiered tray and it looks like they'd be easy to polish off! Not so. It turned out to be surprisingly filling and, by the end, I could only try half of the desserts because I was so full. All really lovely, tasty, well-prepared foods. Totally impressed.Service was impeccable. Great view. The promotion we had included 2 hours free parking. We would highly recommend it!
