We arrived at the restaurant last Sunday after making a reservation. The roast special was priced at £25 for two courses. We had heard great things about the food and we were not disappointed. I ordered the Lamb and my daughter had the pork. The roast potatoes were delicious, and the Yorkshire pudding was outstanding. Many places serve Yorkshire pudding that is greasy on the bottom, but not here. As a bonus, they even came around with extra potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The pot of gravy was also a hit. The cauliflower cheese was exceptional and deserves a 5-star rating on its own. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. The outdoor garden area is a great spot to enjoy a pizza and relax with children. We will definitely be returning.
This charming pub is situated in a delightful location and offers excellent service from friendly and polite staff. The Guinness was reasonably priced. I opted for the Smoked Mackerel Pâté on Sourdough, Soft-boiled Egg, Baby Gem Chardonnay Vinaigrette from the lunch sandwich menu for a light meal on a hot day. The portion was small with only one piece of sourdough, and the side of chips was also on the smaller side for the price. Despite this, the food was high quality with delicious flavors and the hot chips were served in a pre-heated bowl. However, I found myself still hungry and had to stop at Greggs for a sausage roll on my way home. Next time, I will avoid the sandwich menu. Overall, I would rate this pub 4/5 for its friendly staff and efficient service, but the value of the food was lacking.
Amazing experience at The fishes starting from a very welcoming hostess. The team was very attentive and they have a lovely garden too. I was checked upon when I was about to finish my roast and served more p
