Los Compadres Mexican - Valdese

The food was excellent. However, our server only checked on us twice during our visit. We were seated near the area where he frequently delivered meals to other tables, yet he never stopped to see how we were doing. It felt like he only brought us our bill because there were guests waiting for a table. Another server assisted us with our takeout boxes. The restaurant was quite busy and the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation with my wife, especially with a nearby table full of people celebrating the end of the workweek on a Friday night.

I tried the ACP, which was quite good, but the salsa was oily and greasy. When I poured some of it onto the ACP, it left a layer of fat on top. The chips were also a bit stale, but I'm not entirely sure about that. This is my first time dining here, and I only have one day off to enjoy it.

I am dairy-free and requested no cheese, but it seems the person who prepared my rice and beans didn’t get the message until after they had already started. Unfortunately, there was cheese mixed in with my rice. Please be more careful next time with special requests. When someone asks for no dairy, it’s important to ensure that they don’t receive any. It can cause discomfort, as I experienced. I don't digest milk well, but that doesn’t mean I want it in my food. Other than that, the meal was quite good.

Very disappointed in this place. The weekend. The service was super slow, the gentleman waiting for us completely forgot my son's food order. He didn't bring it to the table when my husband asked, he said he forgot to submit the order. We ordered ACP and the chicken tasted burned when the grill had not been properly cleaned, the rice was dry and slandering honest, the whole visit was just terrible. I don't like bad reviews, but it was THAT BAD. My husband and I didn't touch our food because it wasn't edible. We also ordered two alcoholic beverages, which costly watered. We explained all this to the staff on the way out, we did not want any free food we wanted to make the administration aware of the experience we had. Our bill was over $50 and the guy in the register gave us $5, which was nice, but unnecessary to say was not for the terrible food and terrible service. Unfortunately we will not be back or we recommend this restaurant to everyone else. There are many other restaurants in Burke County. I recommended going somewhere else.

Great little place with a wonderful outdoor, covered patio. Perfect for the dog! The burritos were professional food truck worthy! Incredibly yummy! The taco salad looked and tasted cheap, like canned chicken. But it?s overall a great visit.
