Wakely's On Varick - Utica

Was there for a friend's birthday party earlier this year. Paul and his staff were very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Felt like family. I had an amazing time! Will definitely be back. Also the decor is awesome

Wakely's is a very classy establishment, with well dressed and well trained staff that presents the customer with top notch service. The owners have done a marvelous job with the decor in their remodel of an old nightclub, and have created an eclectic, clean, and incredibly charming ambience. The food, while limited in choices for a Sunday afternoon(only a few available selections from an otherwise lengthy looking regular menu) was quite delicious and very generous in proportion size. I would highly recommend this place, and I would look very forward to coming again soon. On a more helpful note..now that the inside has been completed most pleasantly, perhaps it's time to concentrate on the outside appearance. With no sign out front, I wasn't sure if I was walking into the right place. A nice sign perpendicular to the street would go along way toward increasing foot traffic. Also, as I was there to see and support a band I happen to know was performing there, I was kind of shocked to see that there was no advertising in the Thursday addition to the local arts scene in the newspaper. A sandwich board was being set up out front, roughly 2 hrs past the bands start time...a bit sooner than that might of helped to deliver a better attendance. I know this place has only been open since March of 2017, but it's been 3 months, and I hope you take my constructive criticism to heart. I think this is a place people would DEFINITELY like to be at.....but, they have to know that it's there!

What a great place to have fun! Friends got together and danced the night away. On a return visit I was happily greeted by Paul and Morrisa.i introduced other friends to the experience. We enjoyed a good glass of wine and we're introduced to chef Johnny. What a great addition to have the luxury of his culinary skills. I am looking forward to savoring his creations. Wakely's is the only real nightclub in Utica! I have been going there since they opened and it always feels good to be there. The food is contemporary and is good with great presentation. The initial draw was the great selection of interesting Scotch and Bourbon... The backbone of a speakeasy. The selection has dwindled though, but the variety of live music keeps me coming back!

Unique atmosphere, amazing food, service, and drinks! Highly recommend giving them a try! We will be back!
