The chashu was not traditional; instead, it was thick-cut bacon that was crispy. I finished everything, and while the taste was okay, if you’re in search of true Japanese ramen, this isn’t the place. Also, the napkins were quite unusual—check out the photo.
This is still the best ramen spot in the area. The restaurant has been updated and now has a more modern vibe, but I miss the counter where you could watch the broth being cooked while you enjoyed your meal. That really added to the authentic experience.
I've been visiting this restaurant since 2011, and anyone in the area can attest that no other ramen shop has been around for as long—even half as long. Joanne and her small team provide a truly authentic ramen experience. You won't find anyone as warm and professional as Joanne; her service alone is worth the visit. And you’d never suspect that the older chef, who keeps a low profile, is actually listening to metal music through his headphones! Be sure to ask for Joanne; you won't be disappointed!
