Strand Fjordhotel - Ulvik

Great place to have dinner even if you are not a hotel guest. Good cuisine with french and belgian influence. Don 't need to order the full menu it 's possible to order 1 dish only). Very good views of the lake with nice terrasse, but it is not possible to eat outside.

This hotel is fantastically beautiful but still needs a complete makeover. You can see that this is being worked on, but there is still a lot to do. Everything is loosely connected. Room service was a joke. Nothing cleaned in 3 days, only beds made carelessly. Breakfast is good, dinner is not. Here another chef is needed in the kitchen. Staff is very friendly, one star for that. Rooms: The location of the rooms is fantastic right on the water. The beds are good. The shower is fickle and the shower curtain almost fell off. Few options to hang or put your things. Food drinks: Breakfast is good. Not dinner. The menu forces you to order one of the 3 Belgian dishes, but they are not worth their money. You could taste old frying fat on the fries. The hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment since our last stay and now looks really tidy. Our room was very nice, large, clean and the view is terrific. Many sporting activities are offered. We wanted to book by phone but that turned out to be a bit difficult, but ultimately worked out. We give 5 stars plus for the willingness to serve because our cool box with fish was stored in the freezer. At breakfast there is room for improvement. The fact that the bread wasn't fresh on Sunday can still be forgiven, but that it was offered again on Monday was disappointing. And there is coffee from the pump can, if you want fresh coffee you have to pay extra. The terrace is also worth mentioning. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy it. It was fully booked on the first day and it rained on the other two. We say thank you and wish the operators all the best. Very nice hotel! They have kept the old style, but the hotel is well maintained. Clean and nice, good view and lovely breakfast. A big plus is that the friendly staff took on the job of sending us a forgotten item in the post after our stay. We will hopefully be back soon! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
