Thai Curry and Rice was simply amazing and the best one I've had so far in this city. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. Desserts were great too.. I highly recommend Wok By The Lake to all those who love oriental food.
Review: Thai Food Festival at Wok by the Lake, Radisson Blu Udaipur A Thai food fest is something which you won't get very often in the city and that too from the kitchen of a star property. Radisson Blu Udaipur is coming up with a thematic event every month, and their latest offer is bringing quality South Asian food at their speciality restaurant, Wok by the Lake. It is a prix fixe menu where you will have a salad and can select an appetiser, a bowl of soup, a main course dish and a dessert at an all inclusive rate 999 per head, choices available both in Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian. We ordered a simple cocktail; Cosmopolitan made with cranberry juice, triple sec and vodka to accompany the food. The drink was intentionally kept mild in alcoholic content to let us enjoy each of the fine flavours of the food. Started with a bowl of Som Tam, a green papaya salad hugely popular in Thailand with a sweet and sour dressing and roasted crunchy peanuts on top. Fresh and juicy in every bite. Next was our appetiser, Chicken Satay with Peanut butter sauce. Though Satay is a traditionally Indonesian dish, it's also a favourite street side snacks in Thailand and nearby countries. The chicken was grilled perfectly with a blend of typical Thai spices and served with a bowl of spicy Peanut butter sauce. Then the soup was served. It was a bowl of Tom Yum Gai. The soup though looked simple, but it was an excellent mix of the Tom Yum paste - a combination of lemon grass and galangal, some light soy sauce and chicken stock. Cooked chicken chunks were added along with some dried basil. For the mains, we selected Thai Red Curry with Pad Thai. Both the curry and the noodles were cooked perfectly and tasted good. I felt that the coconut milk made the curry a little high on the sweet side, but that was fine by my fellow diner. Next were the desserts. And we were taken aback by the generosity of the restaurant manager and the chef when they serve us a platter of their desserts including Toffee Banana, Tub Tim Krob, Vanilla ice cream and tart and upon special request some Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse. The Toffee Banana was caramelised batter-fried pieces of banana. Presented beautifully with some powdered sugar drizzled on top. And the Tub Tim Krob, a very popular Thai dessert, small cooked pieces of coloured water chestnuts in sweetened coconut milk. Even after a tasty meal the desserts were able to get our attention and made us crave for more! We were lucky to have Mr Veenit at our side who served us some more Tiramisu & Chocolate mouse. We had an enjoyable evening with delicious food in a classy restaurant. I must say, give it a try, if you like to taste some good Thai Food in town. The festival will be running until the end of this month and definitely worth every penny. agourmandsdiary.com

Wok By The Lake is a beautiful Chinese restaurant located inside Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa. We were given a warm welcome by the hostess who escorted us to the restaurant. Must say that finding an oriental cuisine restaurant with dishes like Khao Suey, Crackling Spinach and Toffee Banana is rare. The steward was extremely patient enough to make us understand each dish and we ordered food on his recommendation. First arrived the Tom Yum soup, the consistency was just perfect and it tasted so refreshing and delicious. For starters we ordered Cracking Spinach and Stir Fried Veggies. Both the dishes were cooked well.. however the cracking spinach was the star dish of the night. Main course we were served Burnt Garlic Chicken Rice with Gravy. Once again we really enjoyed the flavors of both the dishes. Definitely coming back for more!!
We visited this restaurant after a friends recommendation and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. It is a hidden gem in Udaipur!!!! We never expected such amazing oriental cuisine in this city and the cherry on the cake was the friendly staff. We ordered for burnt garlic noodles, chicken gravy in oyster sauce and skewers. Meat was succulent and taste was just out of the world. Next time I visit Udaipur am definitely coming back for more!!!!
