We went for dinner 2 weeks ago, we had a booking and happened to arrive during happy hour. That was great so we ordered and continued to enjoy our 2 for the price of 1 cocktails. After orderign our meals we were having a great time catching up and talking about upcoming events that it wasn't until an hour later we realised no food had come... We began trying to get a staff members attention to order another drink and enquire about our meals, but the one waitress was apparently flat out serving the only other table there that night. There was a lady from the kitchen who was also apparently helping with the front of house. Eventually we were able to order our 3rd drinks and were told our food was not far away. Luckily we were in good company so this wasn't a horrible experience. After an hour and 10 minutes our food came, we got 2 of the specials which was creamy muscles with chips and slow cooked beef cheeks, plus a pork belly between the three of us. The food was good, however probably not worth over an hour wait. The portions were huge which was a plus we ended up taking home leftovers. As one of our party is pregnant and we were sitting in front of the desserts cabinet, we couldn't leave without ordering something sweet. We got an apple pie and a bitter chocolate tart. This took 35 minutes to come out and again the desserts were good and we cleaned our plates but at this stage we were the only ones at the restaurant so not too sure what the delay was. We got there at 6pm and left straight after we finished dessert which was around 10pm. It's kind of like a cafe nice and bright and quaint so I'd like to try lunch there as there is a lot of good reviews for daytime meals. If you're not in a rush and you're not starving when you arrive this place was lovely. I wasn't too bothered by the long wait however depending on who you go with this can very nearly ruin an evening out.
The Pickled Hering – Lunch was Perfect AmazingMy Husband and I decided to have a trip out in the winter sunshine for lunch on 8th July 2017. We headed for two rocks to stroll around the marina first and then eat lunch. We arrived and the restaurant was pretty busy but we were acknowledged and advised everyone seemed to have arrived at the same time. Next to us was a table of about ten so we decided to just sit and enjoy the view, take out time and enjoy the ambience. To assist with this decision to enjoy a long lunch, we ordered an Asahi Beer and a glass of white wine. Both served with lovely cold glasses. The staff were very friendly and in the back ground the radio station was UKWA which was playing 80’s hits so the music suited us perfectly. (We are in out fifties). We ordered Three Cheese Aarancini $8.00 and Goats Cheese Souffle and Apple $14 to being. It arrived and both were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. The soufflé was cooked to perfection and we shared the starters, enjoying how good they were. For our main course we ordered Fish of the Day which was Barramundi with prawns $34 and Black Angus Rump with prawns and pepper sauce $28. We asked that the steak was cooked medium rare. The main course arrived again beautifully presented and both were cooked to perfection. The fish just fell apart and had a lovely sauce over it and the steak was cooked as ordered and melted. We watched other meals being served and saw a lovely looking fish tasting platter to share pass us which also looked lovely. There were childrens meals being served and I did not see any complaints or food left on plates. We sat and enjoyed the afternoon and decided to treat ourselves to a crème brulee $10 and banoffee pie $8, followed by coffee. I would absolutely recommend the Pickled Hering, we had an amazing lunch and enjoyed a couple of great hours with amazing food. We will be back with friends.
Decided to try this place out after debating where to go for lunch. No service with a smile or any please or thank you's. Found the food to be very average. It wasn't overly busy. Not my favourite place I'm afraid!!On the plus side I thought the décor was nice & a great view if you sit outside
Two Rocks is quite new to us and we've never been there before.
