Hydro Cafe - Twizel

On a cold, wet day, my partner (who is vegan) and I visited this restaurant after doing some research on their vegan options. She ordered the Vegan Date Loaf. However, the dish arrived with a portion of butter on the plate—not an unopened container, but a piece cut from a block, placed right next to the loaf. When my partner inquired if it was butter, the staff did not offer to remove it or provide a vegan alternative, which was disappointing. Additionally, the flat white made with almond milk was rather average. It's a shame, as the restaurant seemed like a lovely spot.

They offered a nice selection of both sweet and savory options in the display case. I was in need of a quick meal and opted for the bean burrito. Although they made it a bit complicated by adding potatoes and sweet potatoes, it was still delicious.

We had a delightful vegan burrito and a vibrant salad.

Thanks for a lovely breakfast in the sweetest setting, such a lovely small town. We enjoyed our brunch immensely, a lovely stopover for we travellers. Friendly service, delicious food.

I had a great experience at Hydro Cafe! The portion sizes were just right, and the coffee was fantastic. I really loved the rustic decor and the plants in the space. The staff were extremely friendly, which added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend Hydro Cafe for breakfast and coffee!
