Francis Mallman doesnt need to put his name in this place, he is throwing away his years of experience in this only comercial place where they want to make foreigner to buy land
Very strange experience... First a gorgeous landscape at the foot of Andes mountains. Second, a disappointing menu in three courses, that you can find anywhere (or almost anywhere in the country. Third, cuisine is very ordinary; in spite of the style that Mallmann intends promoting,...you feel nothing special consuming these dishes. Service and attention are far from being perfect. I thought about it. Why some people are promoting Mallmann here in Argentina? Sure because of a good marketing by his side. Bus most important, because of a common feeling in Argentina: all whar' coming from outside is better. This was the secret of Mallmann's myth in Argentina. Being him in France, nobody would talk about him nor notice him. Not even one Michelin star. Here, because he is French, he is worth of anaything when really he does not. In conclusion, one lost day in my life.
We arrived with my wife at noon to have lunch at the restaurant. I must say that the food is superlative, one of the best things that I tried in my life, I must also say that the attention is the worst I received in...my life, I think that not even a dog is treated worse. We finished lunch, we decided to sit on the chairs to relax for a while before returning to Mendoza, the afternoon was hot and we had been walking through the vineyards, so we became my wife had to take a medication. She approached the bar and asked for a bottle of water (we were going to pay for it of course) and the employee Daniela, told her NO, she could not sell her water, she first argued that the water was exclusively for hotel guests (before I They said that they only had one that day) and later when I approached to ask, they told me that they had no more water in plastic bottles and that is why they did not sell it, but that they had just arrived minutes would have passed) and I achieved sell me two bottles. Meanwhile, my wife had to go to the bathroom to drink water from the tap to quench her thirst and take her medicine. They are a disgrace for the province of Mendoza, people without soul or heart. They make me sad, they have the place they have, and they send people to drink bath water. Sad
It's a haul to get there from Menodeoza so keep that in mind. Lunch is OK, not great and dinner is a la carte. There is the Mallman special, though he's never there per the staff, which is permeate per person. times overpriced...for what you get and the wine is run of the mill.
I have visited the Uco Valley many times and The Vines quite a few times. I love the building design and outlook. There is a good menu and wine list plus a high standard of service. However every time I go back it just seems...to be more and more expensive relative to the many other great restaurants in the Uco Valley. Wont rush back next year.
