We loved our lunch at Bistro La Tupina. The chef was right there with the open fire, the tupina (or big black pot) on the fire, serving tapas, preparing courses, telling us what we were eating, where it came from, his life story. The food was fabulous. Really fabulous. And the experience was unforgettable. It's a bit like being in the kitchen of a talented and passionate chef who loves the land he comes from and wants to share it all with you. Then once we were in the dining room, we got to meet other people (Argentines and others). The service was professional. The wine was delicious and abundant. You really must add this to your list.
La Tupina is a hidden gem. As we drove in, we weren't sure of the building surrounded by the vineyard, but then we were greeted by the sweetest woman named Mikalia. We started with tapas of avocado with grapefruit; lentils; black pork; chizo; and chicken. Followed by sweet potatoes and beef with a slight sweetness from sugar. It was wonderful! Then had a delicious empanada. Our main dish was the most amazing beef with a potatoe stuffed with vegetables and cheese. All paired with delicious wines from Altura--my favorite the Cabernet. For dessert, we had home made dulce de leche ice cream, with a mozzarella cheese blend, marmalade and a carmelized orange. Truly one of the best desserts I've ever had.We had the place to our selves and enjoyed looking over the vineyards and listening to the birds and natural elements outdoors. The personalized service and food was a true treasure.
