I arrived here and the staff were immediately rude and dismissive. the hostel is absolutely filthy in the rooms and in the kitchen. cockroaches, rats and bugs in the fridges and the rooms. rude staff always. will never go back here
I came in for $10 dinner deal was pleasantly surprised to be offered $5 deal you had an option of homemade pies and peas with mash and salad or red curry and rice with mash and salad!! I chose the latter and couldn’t believe how fresh and tasty the generous servings were!! Best $5 meal I think I ever have had!!! Thank you
We are 2 backpackers who travelled 19 hours to get here. Before we arrived we were told there is loads of farm work (banana packing) available and that farmers are constantly ringing up looking for workers so we thought we were more or less guaranteed work in tully. When we arrived at the hotel we checked in, paid $300 deposit plus $120 for accommodation for the week which was fine. We walking into our room where the walls were covered in drink stains, the floor was covering in crumbs, dirt and loads of bugs crawling along the skirting boards. Shower broken and fan not working. After a long journey, I couldn’t wait to have a shower and feel fresh. I walked into the shower where there were big bugs crawling out from the tiles!! I did not feel clean at all after showering... in fact I felt worse. We have been searching for work ourselves since being here, we’ve rang countless local farms asking if Work is available and every person I spoke too said there’s no work available and that it’s a difficult time at the moment, especially with one farm being closed down due to disease causing 100 people without jobs. On arrival we weren’t told anything about having to complete a ‘Yellow Card’ course, which is needed to be able to work at any banana farm (which we then had to tell other residents who had been here longer than us) they are also still looking for work. Nor were we told about any shoes, clothes etc we would need to work. However luckily we went down to banana barracks who considering we weren’t even staying there were 100 times more helpful and gave us a lot of information about uniform we would need and where to buy it and told us the best way to look for work. We also weren’t informed that we would have to ask for kitchen equipment so when we to cook a meal were confused as to why the kitchen was empty and then had to go downstairs to ask for utensils. I feel very conned by this hotel as they entice you in by saying there’s loads of opportunity for work when the reality seems they just need your money to stay open. If you’re a backpacker like us I would advise looking into other options in Tully or Mission beach area.
The service here was horrible , had to wait for 10 minutes to get serviced to order dinner , asked for 2 steak medium to well done , they come out still bleeding , then to top it all off they started a poker tournament in the middle of the dinning area , will not be going back here in a hurry ,
