Floras Market Run - Tucson

Today 's Floras is not the same as the original Floras that we fell in love with. Meals/drinks have become less value for the money portions shrank, prices up, flavor reduced, menu options are fewer. I understand restaurants having to change to deal with economic issues but they have become a market quality (mid range) restaurant with prices of fancier restaurants. For example, I paid the same price for my glass of wine at Floras as I did at Kingfisher, further, Floras charged me an additional $8 for half a loaf of bread added to the original $15 spinach artichoke dip with half loaf (not enough bread comes with the dip proportions to begin with). Further, service quality has decreased. Our service staff the past few visits have rushed us to order, then not check on us for a second round of drinks or anything else until the end of the meal when asked if we want dessert or the bill. For a $100 dinner i expect more: both my wife and I got a pasta, 1 alcoholic drink per person (2 in total), and a spinach artichoke dip appetizer. Food was average, service was not attentive or personable. We are starting to wonder why we keep coming back and why we keep recommending Floras. I guess our original positive impressions of Floras are outdated. I still have hope that these have been flukes, but if it happens another time or two I will change my recommendation answer to no .

We enjoyed the Fish Tacos and the Pizza. Service was good.

It is hard to get excited over a grilled cheese sandwich and bowl of soup, but this is a grilled cheese I will drive the 30 minutes to get have. The bread they make it on is an artisan thick slice (sourdough? and the white cheese is melted and so gooey and stringy. They use a garlic aioli sauce and then the sandwich is served with a steamy hot bowl of tomato basil soup. SOOOOooo good!

The New Year's Eve prix-fixe menu could have included a second dessert. Otherwise, it was wonderfully balanced, and the food was delicious.

The food is consistently excellent, and the service always comes with a friendly smile. The desserts are truly exceptional and out of this world!
