Salsapariglia Italian Ristorantino Trieste

On a very windy, cold and rainy night last month, my wife and I entered into this establishment and immediately the warmth and hospitality that was put forth made us forget about the miserable conditions that existed outside. It is a small restaurant, but it felt like we were in someone's home as the owner and chef heartedly welcomed us in. I was surprised how busy it was and there was only a small table for two available, but we were happy to get it. The menu was small, but everything on it looked great. There were 3 items for each category of fish, meat and pasta. It was recommended that we try the Carbonara as it was one of their specialties and they claimed it to be the best in Trieste. I beg to differ as I think it's the best in all of Italy. My wife had one of the best fish dishes she has ever had that came with a white citrus sauce. We also had a side dish order of artichokes that was large and flavorful. We were the last people to leave that night, but before we left, we talked extensively with the owner. She is very charming and such a wonderful host. From start to finish, this restaurant gave us a memorable experience with both food and hospitality. In short, fantastic food and staff! This restaurant is primarily about pasta Although we didn't have a reservation in the evening, the staff was very nice, found a place in this small and cozy restaurant and seated us. We were with 2 small children, there was no problem with that either, they have children's chairs in the restaurant. The entire menu is available online via QR code, and is in perhaps 20 languages. The staff speaks perfect English, explains everything and is really very nice. All the pastas (3) that we tried were fantastic, but it is true that the spaghetti carbonara was probably the best. The bread served with the pasta was also great and fresh. Price ratio vs. the quality in the given place is excellent.
