Mode's Bum Steer - Traverse City

Great place, great food,great service! We had a wonderful experience for lunch. Our waitress easily cared for our family of nine. We were immediately seated, and the food was prepared and served quickly! Couldn't have had a better experience!!!!

We went here and this place was closed until further notice.

Walking in we were seated right away. Service was amazing. We wanted for nothing. We had 2 porterhouse and and a new York strip, all cooked to perfect medium rare. Our server kept our drinks full and gave my son a small ice cream with a candle for his birthday. We will definetly be back to Modes when we are visiting.

The experience was pleasant overall, but I found the close proximity of the tables to be overwhelming, with too many people crammed into one room. Whatever happened to social distancing? The service left much to be desired; my server never returned to check if we needed refills, and we had to ask for napkins. I also had to send my steak back because it wasn’t cooked medium well as I requested; it looked like they had just given it a quick sear. When I received it again, the front looked nice, but the back was burnt to a crisp! What a disappointment for $110. I should have heeded the warning from the elderly woman who tried to dissuade us from dining there, commenting on the high prices and small portions. The wedge salad was just a chunk of lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes on the side and your choice of dressing. I definitely won't be returning here. I won’t let this negative experience overshadow my time in Traverse City, but it was truly a waste of my money with the cramped atmosphere and poor service. I do not recommend this place at all.

I really enjoyed the Midwest atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, everyone is eager to welcome you like a friend. It genuinely feels like home when the entire waitstaff stops by to ask how your day has been.
