King bedroom very spacious with a chaise, desk and built-in luggage rack. Breakfast was plentiful with pancakes, fruits, eggs and ready wrapped sandwiches. I gave a 1 star downgrade because the dining area's trash was over flowing as staff was limited due to turning over rooms. Would definitely stay here again if heading to a Gillette Concert or to the Cape. Surprisingly plenty of people were staying here in from Nova Scotia for the T Swift concert. Tip: Take a short drive down to Boston Tavern for dinner!! Yum!!
I reserved through Expedia since the IHG corp added a $60 service fee to book on their site. My room was fully paid before arrival. I was met with great difficulty from the desk attendant when registering. After an hour of attempted resolution he took action that he was empowered to take at the beginning. We checked in, went to the room, and were met with a musty odor. The common areas of the hotel were clean, and we were safe, so I vented the room and continued our evening. I soon discovered the room was not as clean as covid protocol suggested. As seen in pics, the air vent in the bath was filthy, the tub drain discolored, and in the morning I found the most disgusting stuff growing ? In the ac/heater. I also killed a bug or two. Some of these issues may be the responsibility of facilities rather than housekeeping. I 'm giving 3 stars because we were safe and public areas clean. This was not a cheap room. We expected and deserved better. I will search the Middleboro area for an alternate hotel with indoor pool when next visiting. I hope I never have to stay here again..
This...is a strange hotel. It's not terrible, but it's also definitely not somewhere I'd be excited to stay again. Everything is just a little off despite the wonderful efforts of the friendly staff, and I think it would benefit from a general overhaul. The staff *are *fantastic. Very friendly, helpful, kind and made the experience quite pleasant. I'd say they were the best part. When we arrived, the hotel was decorated for Halloween throughout, which was super cute. The fitness center is very small but open 24/hours, and while I didn't use the pool, it looked nice enough for a dip. The staff provided delicious fresh cookies and there was tea and coffee 24/7 which was lovely. The rooms are quite large, but honestly, this place needs some renovations. The day before we arrived, the pipes had burst in one room and flooded, forcing an emergency evacuation for all guests. That was a red flag for sure. My particular room, 420, had a very strange smell that bothered me whenever I entered it, and it was kind of like a rotten chemical scent. The fridge in my mom's room was quite noisy and she had no working fan to turn on. While the furnishings are nice enough and the bathroom is modern, the tub is stained, the bathroom is not super clean (at least, not as clean as I keep my own home...stray hairs, stains, dust on the door, etc. , and generally, I got a slightly rundown feel from everything. The printer/computer was also having trouble when we arrived. The breakfast bar was fine, though nothing to write home about. Standard eggs, bacon, sausage and assorted pastries. No hot, ready-made oatmeal and a rather lacking selection overall, but again, not terrible. Again, this is not the fault of the staff per se, as they were all excellent and kind, but I do think whoever owns this hotel needs to seriously consider putting in some money into remodeling/renovating and replacing appliances like the old mini-fridges. Maybe re-glaze the tubs, re-add the hot tub to the pool area (which sadly was defunct when we arrived , and making sure things are up-to-date, as clean as possible and well, re-done a bit.
This property has obviously been converted to a Holiday Inn Express, and as such it does not look or feel like what you would come to expect from an HIE location. There are some real positives to this hotel. The location is extremely convenient, right off of the I-495 ramp, making it an easy-on, easy-off spot for exploring or working in the region. It also has direct access to a gas station and a 24-hour Circle K from the parking lot. There is an indoor pool and hot tub which are both rather small, but well maintained and clean. They were perfect to cool off in after spending the day out in the oppressive heat while we were there. The rooms were absolutely huge, and our standard two-queen bed room also had a sitting area with a pullout couch. The resulting room layout created a virtual runway for the boys to streak back and forth across. The free breakfast was perfectly fine, nothing special, but not disappointing, either. What was nice was that they had wrapped gluten-free options available for guests. While not a concern for me or my family, I have a friend who needs eat gluten-free due to a medical condition, and I've seen her struggle to find good meals on the road. It's a nice touch that they look out for those with dietary restrictions here. Finally, the staff here were pretty great. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly, personable and competent, going out of their way to make sure we had whatever we needed to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Unfortunately, there are also some significant drawbacks here as well. As I mentioned, this hotel was obviously bought out by Holiday Inn Express and converted. While there were obviously some upgrades and renovations on site, the property is still considerably older and more worn than what you typically find at a HIE. The rooms are quite old, and while the beds are updated, much of the rest of the furniture is not. There are also lots of little things, like sprinkler heads that aren't sealed off in the ceiling, peeling paint, non-functioning electrical outlets, etc. The climate control system was odd, too. There was a thermostat on the wall, but it didn't seem to actually control anything (there were controls on the wall mounted A/C unit that worked, however). Another reviewer mentioned the smell of cigarette smoke, a criticism I can confirm. The fourth floor absolutely reeks of smoke as soon as the elevator doors open, and while the smell is not nearly as noticeable in the room itself, it is fairly obvious that this used to be a smoking floor, and the smell is in the walls. All in all, while this property is not quite up to the standard of a typical Holiday Inn Express, it is still a perfectly fine place to spend a night or two, and the staff are doing their absolute best with what they have.
My aunt stayed in this disgusting hotel May 15 and 16, 2021. It was infested with ants, there were dirty towels and stains everywhere. My aunt didn't sleep at all, worrying that ants would crawl on her. We are also in the middle of a pandemic and they didn't follow any cleanliness precautions. After asking for a refund, they refused. BEWARE DO NOT STAY HERE!! Total health and safety violations!
