We loved the fact that we were the only non-French speakers there, were given a menu in French and had to speak French – everyone was very patient with our efforts. Everything we ordered was most enjoyable and included soupe de poisson, scallops in a delicious sauce, trout with almonds, veal, duck, crème brulee with rose, profiteroles and divine ice cream – chocolate, coffee and mint. Thoroughly recommended – we hope to return one day.
We stumbled into this restaurant out of the rain and though we had only rudimentary French skills, they were happy to help us find a delicious dinner. Friendly helpful service, and delicious hearty food. The atmosphere is charming old world French and the wine selections were top notch.
Enjoyed a quality, good value meal here from the evening menu /plat. Magret cooked perfectly in a delightful sauce, reasonable local wine and well priced, on the street with river views. It was great and good value given the th more expensive choices along the strip.
The gothic style and traditional feel may not be to everyone’s taste but this is a great little hotel. Good sized room with all the necessary facilities overlooking the square. Owners and staff are very helpful and the food is excellent. I wouldn’t bother looking anywhere else to eat. Tournon itself is nice for a mooch round with the old town behind the hotel new part across the river. Live music in a neighbouring bar was a good way to end the evening too. No shortage of vineyards and wine tasting opportunities and the chateaux is worth a visit. Didn’t make it to to the chocolate museum...
Also a logis, but we only ate there and we're glad we did. It was a Sunday evening and many restaurants in Tournon sur Rhone were closed, but this opened at 19.00 and did not disappoint. The welcome was warm, the building was a quaint old beamed place and the food lovely.
