My boyfriend and me went to this restaurant on our first night in Toulouse as it had nice outdoor tables in the buzzing square. I was sold on the 3 course menu of the evening but the food was average at best and so little of it that for 78 euro we didn't think it was good value and mu partner left hungry.
We were recommended Huguette by the receptionist in our hotel and it was a great recommendation. We were in Toulouse for the weekend and ended up at Huguette our first and last nights. Friendly and quick service even for us and we were obvious tourists with not good French, although we tried. The menu is all in French and we ended up looking up words on our phones but the first night I ordered an absolutely massive pork chop with lentils and it was amazing. We went back on our last night to make sure we had genuine French cassoulet and again excellent. It is not the cheapest restaurant ever, I paid 22 euros for the cassoulet which is essentially a pork and beans dish but it was worth the quality. It was crowded both nights full of local French people all having a good time. I would highly recommend Huguette if you are staying in the Place Wilson area.
It was recommended by the hotel. i should have trusted trip advisor. The plate was just too bad. Over-roasted. Plenty of beans. Non tasty meat.
During my stay in Toulouse I wanted to experience genuine French cooking at reasonable prices and based on the advice of my hotel receptionist I tried Hugette early on a Sunday evening. I arrived without a reservation and had no difficulty getting a table, this would not be the case on a Saturday. The people of the Pink City enjoy their meats and it was no surprise that the menu reflected their love of pork, beef & duck. As it was my last meal on the trip I opted to splash out and ordered the house speciality, a cassolet of pork & duck. I was advised that it would take 25 minutes to prepare so I had the foie gras to start and was not disappointed. The main course was excellent, served piping hot and a huge portion to boot. I could not resist a desert course of local fromage and together with a bottle of very good Bordeaux my bill came to €75. All of the food was cooked to perfection and service was very good. A real find in Toulouse
