Superbly cooked fresh food,a great menu choice, with an emphasis on local produce. Although the pub was extremely busy the service was quick, and nothing was too much trouble. We opted for the venison pie x 2 which was a proper pie,top and bottom crust, full of tender meat with a rice gravy,a well cooked mixture of fresh vegetables and good chips. A good bottle of Malbec,2 pints and a fantastic gooey sticky toffee pudding also homemade with clotted cream. The whole bill coming to £61,which we thought was exceptional value for money.. So much so,we had lunch there the next day too, trying 3 light lunches of beetroot cured Salmon, cheddar and apple tart and pigeon salad, all superb. We will be making the pilgrimage from Cornwall to the King Arms again in the not to distant future, truly memorable.,Top job
I run 2 holiday cottages locally and recommend you in my welcome pack as a great place for lunch and dinner. Always a good menu of locally sourced produce, this changes fairly regularly which is great, good choices with something for everyone, a selection of local ales, cider and wines to accompany your meal, good service, lovely atmosphere and a roaring fire to welcome you in the winter months. A popular choice with my guests this season with some great feedback. Fiona (Colehouse Farm Holiday Cottages)
Very character filled pub, very welcoming! Didn’t feel uncomfortable when entering with lots of locals. All very smiley and happy to chat away. Food was outstanding!!! Reasonably priced for food and drinks.
We chose The King’s Arms having read the reviews in the cottage information. We were not disappointed . The pub had a lively feel to it but also welcoming to visitors. The service was quick but we were not rushed. The liver and bacon was a generous plate full, on warm plates (that’s good) and the fish of the day was well presented. The menu is a cut above standard pub food and two courses and drinks came to £50 which these days is good. In summary a great evening
On holiday and decided to eat out at the kings arms as recommended by our hosts. Didn’t have signal so contacted them through messenger and Faye (landlady) rang the pub for us and booked us in, even though they were busy and pretty much booked up. And on a Wednesday evening. The pub itself is brilliant, a proper English pub which is warm, friendly full of locals and a fantastic feel to it. The food was superb too. Best burger I’ve ever had!! (The kings dick). We had 2 children with us and although they didn’t have a children’s menu they sorted us out with the option of smaller child portions. Will definitely be coming again when we’re back in the area. I never write reviews but because it was such a great experience I had too!! Thank you to Faye and her great team!
