Around 2 3pm on 15th, I popped in for a bite to eat. The chap serving wasn 't rude, but he clearly didn 't care about me as a customer to the extent his demeanour was well on the road towards a destination of Rude , even if...he hadn 't arrived! That said, he was chatty attentive to other people he knew to the extent, I felt I was an annoyance to him. They only had two types of sandwiches both of which had goat cheese which I don 't like. I pleasantly asked anything with no goat cheese? to which he replied No. Sorry in a dismissive tone, with no eye contact, that didn 't even attempt to make a pretence of being sorry! I asked for an Orange San Peligrino and he handed me a Blood Orange SP. I said, Oh, sorry, I wanted regular orange to which he replied it is orange and I said No, it 's blood orange and he looked slightly taken aback, before saying (as if he didn 't really give a rats Sorry that 's all we have . I am pleasant and friendly in shops (I worked in pubs and shops for years when I was younger and my presence clearly got in the way of whatever he was wanting to do instead. The ginger cookie I had was absolutely delicious, but didn 't take away the after taste of his mild irritation and his definitive indifference to my presence and business. I 'd gone there as a change from my usual Irv directly across the road. But, the staff at The Irv are so warm and friendly and accommodating compared to this icy prima donna, I 'll take my business to Irv from now on DESPITE the loveliness of the cookie! Tip from Harvard Business School: for every one complaint, 10 people felt the same but didn 't share their views, but just quietly took their business else where. Also, where food is similar, people will go where the service is friendly and they are made to feel welcome. Hence my summary: Goodbye Scullery, hello The Irv
I stopped by here mostly for coffee and snacks on my way through town. Coffee was always good, pastries were a mixed bag, I had a few that tasted a little stale.
So disappointed that this on some levels charming Cabbagetown restaurant doesn't believe in charming it's clients.Complaints are met with a shoulder shrug Food quality is inconsistent in particular their soups are either over or under flavoured so much lime in red pepper lime soup...as to be caustic or underwhelming is it here? corriander flavoring on another occasion Our wait person explained the deaf ear to our disappointment was on orders from management.
3 friends and I went for lunch at the Scullery on April 18. While the food for most of us was very good, one in our party did not like the red pepper and lime soup. Too much lime. After one sip she sent it...back and ordered something else. What a surprise when the bill came back charging her for the soup! Worse yet, when asked to remove the cost of the soup from the bill, the server was confrontational and refused. My friend asked for a soup to go without the lime, which was done. However damage was already done. Service was curt, rude and not at all what would be expected from any restaurant, let alone a neighborhood start up. So to the manager, the customer is always right. A smile and yes, I 'm sorry you didn 't like it, what else can I get you? Should be your policy from now on. Oh, and by the way, you have just lost 4 customers who will spread the word about poor service and who won 't be coming back.
