They put ice in the smoothie which is a trick to use less ingredients. The coffee was not dark roast, too much water. I have been wanting to come here for years for their health conscious food. I was expecting more.
Quirky small place. The outside a curved building..inside ..square & basic but loved the eclectic mix of chairs. Varied healthy menu, of which I opted for the Buenos Dias Wrap and chicken. OMG yummy. After a long flight from UK to Toronto earlier in the day..the best thing was this healthy gluten free wrap spread with black beans, quebec cheese, avocado, quinoa and more..DELICIOUS. We didnt mind that service was a little slow..but we're on holiday and in no rush. We had a great waitress to who was genuinely interested in where we were from & what plans we had. If you have the time...try it out.
Not necessarily easy to find. We actually wandered into this place because we had to use the ATM out front - I assume a number of people find it for the same reason. There is an indoor space with an ATM and then a door to a small cozy restaurant called The Beet. It struck us as "a sign!" - because my friend is vegan and this place was advertising Vegan and Organic all over the place. Menu looked tasty so we entered. I had the Half Avocado - it was delicious! It was a half avocado with mixed veggies, rice, avocado bits, bean sprouts and peanut sauce. Everything was SUPER fresh and the combination of ingredients was on point. I am a meat eater but this time decided to get a vegan dish, in the end I had no regrets! (Sign me up?) I also don't usually go for avocado except guac based on texture but this was perfect for me. Rice gave me the texture I wanted. This is a great place for friends who are a combination of vegan, vegetarian and meat eaters to get a fulfilling meal together. (Not always easy). My friend also really enjoyed their dish. Of note is that this place had families (babies and up), students, friends, dates - everything. A well rounded place for any group. They also have these cookies, advertised as being addictive. I implore you to try them! Depending on your diet there are different options. I had the peanut butter with chocolate chip cookie (not vegan) and omg it was delicious. Perfect texture. I'll also add that dressing/sauces are made fresh in house and that they have LLBO! (We made use of that with a pitcher of sangria!) Also extra props to staff. They were fun, friendly, and after I forgot my phone due to Sangria they safely held it for me. The Beet Rocks!
We went to The Beet as my daughter recommended it - she was attracted by the organic and vegetarian options. We were all very happy with the experience. The apple and beet salad is to die for! The BBQ chicken wrap was good, though quite spicy... 'real' bbq sauce, not sweet stuff from the grocery store. The green sandwich was great - and the side salads yummy. They sell Chocosol chocolate - a great dessert option. We stocked up on a few extras... REAL chocolate, I think from Mexico. Tastes subtly different to commercial chocolate. My only negative comment is that the music is very loud.... the crowd didn't seem to call for such loud music when we were there. Though we did not ask them to turn it down. They didn't rush us out either! All around, a great visit.
Good food, but disappointing service. Went on a Monday afternoon, and it was not busy. Took a while for someone to come by. We got dirty glasses with tap water as a start. When we asked for clean glasses, the waitress did not apologize. Salad with beets was super basic, for $13. We didn't receive our two sandwiches at the same time, and we ate in stages, since the food was not served to both of us simultaneously. Very disappointing.
