I thoroughly enjoy it! I only wish their soup was vegan though. I hope they will come up with more vegan options in the future. I'm a little jealous of the amazing looking non-vegan options. As a quick lunch stop, it's a great option.
There is better Japanese options in the area, the bento box I ordered was average at best.
Made the mistake of being to lazy to walk to my usual poke place.
Being completely honest, when you are in a mall, or in the underground PATH in Toronto, say you pass a Teriyaki Express, or a Koya Japan, they often have pre-made sushi ready in the fridge. Or maybe you go to a small stand-alone sushi take out storefront, maybe its from T&T or Oceans, regardless, these offer a lower class of sushi, in my humble opinion. However, if you pass the Sushi Shop, whether it be in Toronto or Montreal (I have tried various locations) you are paying for some good quality sushi, given it's not a dine-in experience. In terms of grabbing quick sushi on the go, or for your lunch or dinner quickly, the Sushi shop probably offers the best sushi, with the best selection. The menu is quite expansive, you can get various basic or premium rolls, plenty of sashimi or sushi, and much more. The selection varies, as I said, from rolls, to pressed sushi, to fully loaded ramen bowls (which are just ok). So, with the selections being so large, there are plenty of rolls to try, and it may take a while. My personal favorites are the 911 rolls, and the Salmon mango pressed sushi. The prices do vary with the selection, and it does come at a cost. The premium rolls can run up to $8-12 per 6-8 pieces, but are often well worth the cost. If you do have the money, I would definitely recommend giving this place a visit. You can get pre-made sushi combos for 10-14$, and any order over $10 gets you a free miso soup. The fresh salads are also good, with seared salmon or tuna on top. Overall, well worth the visit, worth the money. You may find the prices somewhat steep, but the service is good and quick, and the sushi is of higher quality.
I came across Sushi Shop while walking through York Street Concourse looking for a quick lunch. The place is small and decorated tastefully. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. I didn't want pre packed sushi, so they made me custom sushi. It was the most creative and delicious creation. On top of that, I got miso soup at no charge. The prices are very reasonable considering location.Wonderful place for fast and really good sushi. I definitely will go back. Highly recommended.
