Przekaż informację zwrotnąTucked away in the area of Toronto called The Junction amidst older homes sits Rush Hour. It was recommended to me by friends who go there often and I have been twice since my original visit. Both times the food and service were excellent. Family run and friendly. One rainy evening Fernando Silva - owner - came out to my car with an umbrella. Now that is really service. A platter of fresh fish is presented so you can choose. Both times I chose the cod which was cooked to perfection and served with perfectly cooked veggies. The decor is charming and warm - an old brick wall displaying wine bottles running the length of the restaurant. Opposite there are large windows that open to a nice sized patio. I am looking forward to my next visit.
Do NOT let the name or location put you off, this family run establishment is a hidden gem. A great menu of classical dishes, each with a modern gourmet twist, make Rush Hour perfect for that special occasion, business dinner or just a romantic night out. The owner is on the floor and truly values his clientele. Fernando and family ensure that everything is done professionally and in an engaging way. He ensures that your dinning experience will be memorable. His Portuguese heritage is evident in the warm welcome, the concern for your comfort and satisfaction, the influence of the best of Portuguese cuisine and the extremely well chosen wine list featuring an outstanding selection of Portuguese wine at the most reasonable prices I have experienced in any Canadian restaurant. She started with a wonderful tray of oysters and I with shrimps in a great Pernod sauce. Then we both had the perfectly grilled/rosée rack of lamb over a creamy mushroom risotto (no Italian restaurant can make any better) served with the perfect mint sauce. All this complemented with the most extraordinary Portuguese wine. Not only is Rush Hour one of the best "value for money" in the Toronto area, but you get free parking as a bonus!! So, do NOT miss out!Bom Apetite (now ... there's a name for this "muito bom restaurante"!)
After a couple of unfortunate dining experiences the past 2 weeks. It was a pleasure to at long last come across a restaurant worth eating at. I am referring to our most enjoyable dinner tonight at Rush Hour on Dufferin Street. This restaurant was a delight both in atmosphere and cuisine. Rush Hour is a family run restaurant and it has all the lovely personal touches that you would expect in this type of establishment. We felt very welcome and comfortable. My husband ordered the chicken soup and I ordered the butternut squash soup. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our soup. It was obviously homemade and comforting especially on a very chilly evening. My husband ordered one of the specials which was a salmon trout, It was done to perfection. I ordered the rack of lamb, tender and succulent and both of us had the mushroom risotto as a side dish. Both meals were very enjoyable. We ended the meal sharing a creme brulee, again most enjoyable, The prices are very reasonable and the helpings generous, We left feeling very full and satisfied. I have tried on a couple of occasions to make a reservation at Rush Hour for Saturday night but it has always been booked up. Hence our dining on a Sunday night. Although a small restaurant, I can see why. I am sure that they have their regulars and for good reason. A gem of a restaurant. We will be going back again very soon.
Looking for fresh food with unique, simple-but-superb preparation? Rush Hour is your place. We have been there week-end and week-day evenings. Service is gentle, seafood, lamb, & beef entrés all superb, vegetables crisp, salads fresh and well dressed, deserts an excellent finish. Chef's special is consistently good. The atmosphere allows for long, lingering conversations among friends and owner Fernando Silva is always a gracious host. Want something different or special? Just ask. If you are a frequent guest, expect an occasional treat to appear.
We wanted to be in the neighbourhood where Rush Hour is located so we pulled up and were delighted to see that they had a patio. It was likely the last summery night of September so I definitely wanted to sit outside. We got there right at opening time and parked. A guy came out and asked us to pull the car up, and not politely. That should have been my first clue and we should have left then. But I looked at the menu, which is pretty expensive for this part of the city. You are certainly not paying for the view, because there is none.I asked him if we could sit outside and he flat out refused. I didn't even understand his reasoning. That was it for me. This is a small restaurant and it would have only been an extra 5 feet for a server to bring the food and drinks outside. I will not go back. I can't imagine that they get customers with the surly attitude and uncooperative employee they have working there. There are other places to try that are cheaper and more interesting.
